This is my English translation of my 2009 Dutch Art of Murder 1 walkthrough. The screenshots are from my Dutch walkthrough so there's Dutch text on the screenshots. I no longer have this game so I couldn't do new screenshots with English text

Art of Murder The Hunt For The Puppeteer is the second installment in the Art Of Murder series in which you play as FBI agent Nicole Bonnet. As Nicole Bonnet you are now on the hunt for a serial killer and this hunt takes you to Paris, Marseille, the Spanish Pyrenees and Havana in Cuba. Several murders are committed in America that have a lot in common with murder cases in Paris. The murderer always leaves a small wooden doll with his victims, dressed in 18th century clothing. The killer attaches strings to the corpses so that they look like marionette dolls. Hence, the FBI has come to call the killer the Puppeteer, ... the Puppeteer .....

Intro: New Orleans 2 August 2007:

In New Orleans, a SWAT TEAM raided a factory because the police got a tip. The SWAT TEAM carefully works their way into the factoryand they find a ...... corpse. The body was hung by the murderer like a puppet doll from the ceiling beams of the factory. Then the 2nd intro movie starts in which you see The Puppeteer at work. After this you will end up on the main menu screen where you start the game.

Chapter 1: France: Paris:

Day 1: April 15, 2008:

A: The corpse in the dance theater:

FBI agent Nicole Bonnet has been sent to Paris because there is yet another victim of the Puppeteer found. The victim is a ballet dancer and her name was Elizabeth Soupalt. The game begins when Nicole arrives on the crime scene. Also present is the Parisian inspector Pety. Before you start doing anything it is useful to open your notebook and then, in the "Documents" section, read the 4 Police reports and the psychological profile. Because then you know a little bit why Nicole is now here in Paris.

August 3, 2007:

The 1st report thus describes the victim from the intro movie. The victim was 48-year-old Luke Crespienne. The man was hung on ropes and literally bled to death because the killer cut open a major artery. So the man has literally bled out. The murderer left a small wooden doll. The doll was dressed in clothing from the time of the French Revolution. Traces of various narcotics and nitroglycerin were found in the body during the autopsy. Police were able to locate the body because they received a call from an anonymous informant who is believed to have been the killer himself.

October 6, 2007:

The second victim is Marte Parker, a 30-year-old housewife from Houston, Texas. Marte Parker was nailed to the front of her own house by iron hooks by the killer and then bleeding her out by opening several arteries. Traces of narcotics and Nitroglycerine have also been found at Marte's and ..... a small wooden doll dressed in French Revolution clothing.

December 9, 2007:

The 3rd victim is 45-year-old Jeanne Murphy, an English schoolteacher from Memphis. Jeanne's body hung on the climbing frames in the gym of the school where she worked as a teacher. A wooden doll lay by the body and was dressed in French Revolution attire. The body had already bled out before the killer put the meat hooks into the body to hang the corpse from the jungle gym. Nitroglycerin and other narcotics were found during the autopsy. The body was found by the janitor on his round.

January 15, 2008:

The body of Guilbert Marmontel, a 53-year-old book writer, was found in his hunting lodge in Tours, France. The body was nailed to one of the walls of the hunting lodge guest room. The body was found by the cleaner. A small wooden doll dressed in French Revolution clothing was found near the corpse and traces of nitroglycerin etc. were found in the body. The victim has bled out.

Also read the psychological report and then close the notebook by clicking next to it. In your inventory you have the photo camera and your business card. Right-click in inventory on the camera and on the business card to view these 2 items in a close-up screen. Nicole tells you something about it. Left click next to the close-up screen to close the close-up screen. So .... you now know how things work in the game so you can get started now.

Go talk to inspector Pety, so left click with the talk cursor on the inspector. Just follow all call options. This "cheerful" inspector Pety is "not ammused" that an FBI agent is trying to interfere with his investigation. Nicole says that Pety's bosses have asked the FBI for help because they believe the dancer was murdered by the Puppeteer. However, Nicole has noticed that the victim has not been hanged, nor has she been bled out. So Nicole doubts whether this is a real Puppeteer murder. Nicole asks if she can investigate the crime scene further and she can.

When you have asked everything, only the option to end the conversation remains, so end the conversation and our cheerful French inspector disappears. There is a piano in the room and a table by the left window. Walk to the table and ....... Nicole's cell phone starts ringing. It is Nicole's boss who calls and a conversation follows. Nicole tells her grumpy boss that Elizabeth Soupalt may not have been murdered by the Puppeteer but by a "copy-cat killer". Boss wants Nicole to find out as soon as possible.

NB: you will also receive this telephone call if you had walked to the body instead of to the table.

After the phone call, continue to the left. You will then see the table. There are 3 drawers in the table. Left click with your magnifying glass cursor on the middle drawer. You zoom in on the middle drawer. Left-click with your magnifying glass cursor on the lock of the drawer to open the drawer.

Grab everything from the drawer that you can. These are the sheets of paper, the Heavy paper stapler, the Adhesive Tape  and the Plastic sleeves for documents. When you have taken the plastic document sleeves from the drawer you will see a Secret Button, in the right side wall of the drawer. Click on the Secret Button and .... the small right drawer clicks open. So zoom in on the right drawer and open it.

From the right drawer, take the old box of matches, the Pipe too, the List of tenants and the package of Cotton wool. Zoom out of the drawer and walk back one screen, via the bottom of the screen. Now walk on to the body of Elizabeth Soupalt. Nicole says she should take a photo of the body.

Take the photo camera from your inventory and click it on the body. Nicole takes 2 pictures of the body. 

To the right of the body is an overturned chair. Check out the overturned chair. Nicole is not sure if the killer's work was disturbed or if a "copy-cat" killer tried to emulate the Puppeteer's modus opperandi (MO). A small wooden doll  lies in front of the unfortunate Elizabeth Soupalt's body. Take a plastic cover from your inventory and click it on the doll to pick it up and ...

You see in a flash the murderer at the body of Elizabeth Soupalt. Elizabeth is on the floor in the center of the room.

Put the cover (right click) back in your inventory. Nicole has put the doll in a case. View the doll in your inventory. The doll is a dancer dressed in a dance outfit at the time of the French Revolution. Now zoom in on the body with your magnifying glass and then click with your magnifying glass on the head of the dead dancer.

  • You see the dancer's left cheek and you see a peck of white crystals around the dancer's lips.In inventory. 
  • Combine the Cotton wool with the Matchbox to make a Cotton Swab
  • Then take the cotton swab from your inventory and click it on the white crystals on the face of the dead dancer.
  • Nicole sweeps up some white crystals. 
  • Then combine the used cotton swab with your plastic sleeves to put the cotton swab in a case.

Zoom out of the body and walk back one screen. Now go to the middle window. Nicole enjoys the view she has from the middle window of the Eiffel Tower. A small window is open in the round upper window. Zoom in on the window and ... Nicole discovers a set of fingerprints on one of the top small windows.

Apparently, Inspector Pety has not discovered these fingerprints and Nicole thinks she should report it. You can't take a print of the fingerprints, so zoom out and then walk down a screen twice and then leave the room through the door behind the piano. Nicole ends up in the hallway. A police officer is on duty at the front door. Nicole is in the hallway and in front of the ballet rehearsing room. To the left of the door is a Mop against the wall (Dirty mop on a wooden pole). Click with your arrow cursor on the door and you will see a light switch to the right of the door.

Zoom in on the light switch and then click on it. Unfortunately ..... the light does not turn on. Zoom out again and grab the Mop, which is against the wall to the left of the door. Walk to the left and then walk to the police officer. The cop kills boredom by solving a crossword puzzle. An open fuse box hangs on the wall.

Zoom in on the fuse box. There are 8 plugs but the wires are loose. Right click in the fuse box so that Nicole knows that the plugs are broken and that therefore the lamps do not work. Zoom out of the box and now talk to the officer and ask him about the light in the exercise room (Lighting). The cop has no idea why the lights don't work and doesn't really care. Close the conversation but immediately click on the cop again and then ask him for a pencil. The cop offers Nicole his ballpoint but Nicole needs a lead pencil and the cop happens to have one too. Nicole gets a yellow pencil from the officer. Say goodbey again.

Go back to the door of the dance rehearsing room and zoom in on the door again and then enter the room again. Go to the middle window again and zoom in on it again. The small window is  open in the upper semicircular window. Left click on the Mob in your inventory to click the mop off the handle. You are then left with only the Steel Mop pole. Take the Steel Mop pole from your inventory and click it on the open window to close the window. You will see a bloody cross on the pane of the window.

Take a picture of the Cross with your photo camera. Also take a photo of the fingerprints on the pane of the bottom window.

Stay in the close-up of the window because you now have to make a fingerprint impression.

In your inventory, combine the Pencil with the Stapler to break open the pencil.

Combine the broken pencil with your blank sheets of paper.

You then have a sheet of paper with powdered lead.

Take the sheet of Paper with Pencil powder from your inventory and click on the fingerprints on the window.

So you use the lead pencil powder as fingerprint powder.

Then use the adhesive tape on the fingerprints. Put the tape away again.

Then combine the adhesive tape with copied fingerprints with your paper to stick the fingerprint on a piece of paper.

You then have a sheet of paper with fingerprints.

Now zoom out the window again and walk 1 screen back down. You will then see the "shadow" of the entire middle window on the floor. Move your cursor over the "shadow" of the semicircular above skylight. You get the magnifying cursor in the lower part of the skylight on the floor because there is a loose floorboard in the floor there.

So zoom in on that loose floorboard. Take the Pipe-cleaning tool from your inventory and click it on the loose floorboard and Nicole knocks the plank out of the floor. On the back of the shelf is the year 1793, the year that Robbert Spierre's reign of terror began during the French Revolution.

Click with your photo camera on the 1793 floorboard..... you zoom out and Nicole takes a picture of the floorboard. Zoom in again on the floorboard. Take a plastic bag from your inventory and click it on the 1793 plank to store it in a platsic bag and in your inventory. Zoom out of the floor.

Right-click in your inventory on the Tenants list (A list of people renting the room) to view this list of names. The names on the list obviously mean nothing to Nicole. Close the close-up screen. Now take a photo of this tenant list in inventory, so click with the camera on the tenant list. Exit the room into the hall and go back to the officer at the front door. Talk to the cop again.

Nicole tells the officer that it is high time for her to leave, but first she hands all the evidence she has collected to the officer so she can give it to Inspector Pety. So you only keep the photos in your inventory and the roll of adhesive tape. Say goodbye to the agent and then click on the exit door and ..... Nicole leaves the building and is dropped by a taxi on the sidewalk in front of the hotel where she has reserved a room.

NB: If Nicole doesn't leave the building now then this means you have forgotten to do something. Probably you haven't do the fingerprint thing correctly or forgot to do some of the other things you need to do. So check what you didn't do and then go do it and then go talk to the police officer again

B: Hotel:

Reception hall

Send the photos to your HQ:

Enter the hotel through the double front door. Nicole ends up in the reception hall. Pierre, the hotel owner, is behind the reception desk

. Further to the left is the stairs to Nicole's hotel room. Walk to Pierre and there will automatically be a greeting and a chat about dinner. 

After this you walk through a screen to the left and then up the stairs and Nicole ends up in her hotel room.

Nicole's hotel room:

Nicole now needs the photos, that she took in the dance hall, sent to her FBI office in America, and that goes through the Internet. In front of the bed is a bench on which Nicole's laptop bag lies. In the corner, to the right of the bed, is a desk. Zoom in on the desk. Nicole's laptop is on the desk. A USB cable sticks out of the laptop on the left

There is also a lamp on the table. The antenna is in front of the lamp. The Antenna is connected to an Adapter. 

There is a plug on the cable that protrudes from the left side of the adapter. The plug of the lamp is in the socket. Zoom in on the socket.

Unfortunately France has different sockets and plugs than those used in America. The plug of Nicole's Adapter will therefore not fit into the socket. Nicole needs another adapter. Click on the plug of the lamp to unplug it. Then click on the plug of the Adapter. Nicole tries to see if the adapter plug does fit in the socket, but that does not work. Zoom out. The lamp plug then goes back into the socket automatically. Zoom in on the Adapter. The plug of the antenna plugs into the adapter on the right side.

Then left click on the Adapter to flip it. On the back of the adapter is a label stating that the thing needs 110 volts of input and that it then supplies 12 volts of output. This Adapter cannot be used here in France. Zoom out and then zoom in on the lamp. The lamp is on, so first click on the lamp switch to turn the lamp off. Then click on the lamp, but not again on the switch, to lay the lamp flat on the table. Under the lamp is a sticker stating that the lamp works on 230 Volt.

There is a halogen lamp in the lamp holder. Click on the lamp to remove it from the holder. In inventory you can read the lamp delivers 12 Volt, the same voltage output as Nicole's adapter. Zoom out again and zoom in on the Adapter again. Now click on the plug that is on the right side of the adapter to remove this plug from the adapter. You have then disconnected the Antenna from the adapter. Zoom out again and zoom in again on the flat lying lamp. The plug of the Antenna is now at the lamp. You can see that the plug of the antenna does not fit in the socket of the lamp holder. Nicole tells you she urgently needed some wires. Zoom out twice and then leave your room and Nicole will automatically be down in the reception hall. Walk down one screen and then 2 screens to the right and Nicole is back on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Right next to the hotel is a Café. So go one screen to the right, to the:

Café:

Pierre, the hotel owner, is sitting on the terrace chatting with Sylvie Leroux, who you may know as the main character in the game "Chronicles of Mystery: Scorpio Ritual". Talk to Pierre and just use whatever options you get. So you first ask Pierre about an Adapter, but unfortunately Pierre doesn't have such a thing. Then ask Pierre for a Charger. Unfortunately Nicole will have to wait until tomorrow because the shops are already closed. Pierre then asks if Sylvie does not have an adapter / charger, but unfortunately Sylvie left her adapter in Malta. The conversation is then over. Click on Pierre again and ask him for a Piece of wire and Sylvie will give Nicole one of her Hair clip. Say goodbye and walk back one screen to the left, enter the hotel and back to your room.

Nicole's hotel room:

Zoom in again on the table and zoom in again on the extended lamp. Left click on the Hair Clip in your inventory to break it into 2 halves.

Then take the broken Hair Clip from your inventory and insert both halves into the socket of the lamp holder.

Then click on the plug of the Antenna and .... the plug will automatically enter the contact of the lamp holder. The antenna is now connected to the lamp. Return the lamp to the upright position by clicking on the bottom of the base and then click the lamp switch to turn the lamp on. The green light on the lamp switch should be off. Zoom out and see .... the light of the antenna is now green and flashes on and off to indicate that the antenna now has power. Zoom in on the Antenna and left click on it again and ..... The Antenna device now stands upright and the thing unfolds. The antenna now has power and the internet connection can now be established via the laptop

You are automatically zoomed out. Look at the laptop. An USB cable protrudes from the laptop on the left side.

Take the photo camera from your inventory.

Click the photo camera on the plug of the USB cable. You plug the camera to the USB cable.

Now click twice on the laptop and the photo will automatically be sent to the FBI head office.

Nicole then naturally calls Ruth, the boss's secretary.

Ruth receives the photos and Nicole asks if she can give the photos to Nick. However, Nick, Nicole's FBI partner, has disappeared once again. After this conversation, zoom back in on the table and take the photo camera back. Zoom out again and leave your room and back in the reception hall Nicole's cell phone will ring. It's Inspector Pety calling.

Another murder has been committed and it looks like a Puppeteer murder again. The murder was committed in the Montmartre district, Rue de Nouveau No 5/13. Continue to the reception desk. Pierre is not there. Continue to the right and then try to leave the hotel. However, it is late at night so the hotel is now on the night lock. Walk back to the reception desk. To the right of the desk is a fencer lamp and a laptop. The bell is on the desk at the laptop. In the middle of the desk is a brochure from a car rental company.

Zoom in on that folder and then take the folder. Right-click in inventory on the folder. Close the close-up screen and zoom out of the desk. Now zoom in on the bell and give it a big ram and ..... Pierre appears. Talk to Pierre about "Nighttime walk", "Car rental" and "Cab". Pierre will rent a car for Nicole but it won't be available until tomorrow. Via the "Cab" option Pierre ordered a taxi for Nicole to take her to the new murder location. End the conversation and now leave the hotel and ..... the taxi will deliver Nicole in the Rue de Nouveau.

C: Rue de Nouveau No. 5/13:

Nicole walks to the door of the house where the murder was committed. A young man, who is around the corner, spies on Nicole. 

Nicole notices the young man but she continues to the house.

Nicole is then at the front door of house number 5/13. Go inside. Nicole is then in the stairwell on a floor where a pram is at the door. Go up the stairs one more floor and Nicole is on the top floor. The door of number 13 is ajar and the gendarme from the dance theater is leaning against the banister again.

Talk to the gendarme . The murder was committed in the apartment of one Jack Dupree and the victim is a girl again. 

From the apartment, Inspector Pety calls for Nicole to come in. So enter apartment 13 and talk to Inspector Pety and use all options.

Jack Dupree turns out to be an American who has been in Paris for several weeks. The victim is Jacquelin Lorrain, a dancer from the Moulin Rouge. The MO of this murder is not the same as with Elizabeth Soupalt. Here is blood but no doll. However, there is also a witness and that is the woman who lives in the apartment where the pushchair is. If you just use all options, you will receive his business card from Pety.

So, on the ceiling beams behind Pety, the killer hung the ropes with hooks on which he intended to hang the body of Jacquelin Lorrain. Apparently, the killer was interupted before he could finish his act completely. To the right of Nicole is a desk under the window. Pety doesn't let you touch anything here. However, with your camera, do take a picture of the desk and a picture of the Ropes with hooks.

In the center of the room is a sofa and a glass table. There is a toolbox in front of the table. Check out that toolbox. Nicole thinks there might be something useful for her, but as long as that pesky Pety is here she can't do anything. Leave the apartment and talk to the gendarme again in the hall and ask him about the witness. The witness saw Dupree pass by about the time of the murder. The witness is called Agnes Grouchet and she lives in the apartment where the pram is at the door. So go back down 1 floor and then click on the door of the apartment (Bell).

Agnes Grouchet opens her door ajar. So you don't see Agnes Grouchet but you talk to her through the door.You get the option "Conversation about the murder". It turns out Madame Grouchet speaks damn good English, but she doesn't want to talk to Nicole, who is a complete stranger to her. Grouchet closes her door. Take Pety's business card from your inventory and click it on the door (Bell).

Madame Grouchet opens her door ajar again, so you can now ask her a few questions. Just follow all the options you get. Agnes Crouchet now tells that she saw Jack Dupree run out of the house and she saw Dupree drop something "metallic" on the street. Say thank you and exit the house down the bottom stairs (Building's exit). Nicole is back on the street. You now have to search the screen again with your cursor because you are looking for a sewer drain. You will find the sewer drain on the right curb of the street, exactly at the bottom center of the screen.

Zoom in on the sewer drain. In the drain is a Gold bracelet. You can try if Nicole wants to lift up the grid, but she doesn't want to do that without tools. So zoom out again. Go back into the murder house and all the way up. There is now a gray toolbox next to the gendarme. Talk to the gendarme again and ask him about the Toolbox. The gray toolbox belongs to a forensic guy and Nicole is not allowed to see it. Go back down to Agnes Grouchet's apartment. In the door porch of Agnes hangs a green letterbox with a Newspaper in it. Grab the newspaper from the green mailbox. Go back upstairs and talk to the gendarme again and then use the Newspaper topic.

Nicole gives the newspaper to the gendarme and tells that the police are not doing well in the newspaper. The gendarme walks away to read the newspaper in the light of the lamp. Quickly .... Zoom in on the gray toolbox. Open the tool box and then quickly take the plastic Evidence bags, the orange Screwdriver and the Fingerprint Foil from the box.

Go back down and out again and zoom in on the drain again outside. Use the screwdriver on the Sewer grate to lift the grate. 

Click with the plastic Evidence bags on the Golden Bracelet to put it in a bag and take it from the well.

As soon as you get the bracelet, Nicole gets a call from Pierre saying that a rather nervous American left her a letter.

Could that have been that Jack Dupree? Pierre sends a taxi to drive Nicole back to the hotel.

D: Hotel:

Enter the hotel again and proceed to the reception desk. Pierre then gives Nicole the letter from Jack Dupree and Nicole reads the letter. Jack Dupree writes that he is innocent and he wants to meet Nicole at 23:00 tonight on the bridge the Pont des Invalides. Talk to Pierre and ask him about the Pont des Invalides and Pierre ordered another taxi to take Nicole there

Then try to leave the hotel, but Nicole then changes her mind because she still has to send the photos of the 2nd crime scene to the headquarters. So go to your room and zoom in on the table again. Reconnect the camera to the USB cable and click twice on the laptop again to send the photos of the Rue de Nouveau 5/13 crime scene and put your camera back in your inventory. Zoom out.

There is a bench in front of the bed on which the laptop case lies. Take the Laptop case from the bench. Zoom in again on the table and then click with the Laptop case on the Laptop and ..... Nicole puts the laptop in the case, because she now wants to take the laptop with her to record Jack Dupree's statement with it. Try to leave the room, but Nicole will first change into more informal clothes. Then leave the hotel and the taxi ordered by Pierre will deliver Nicole to the:

E: Pont des Invalides:

On the Pont des Invalides, Nicole has a meeting and conversation with Jack Dupree. Nicole advises Jack to report to the police. Dupree says he is innocent and he starts talking about letters he left in New Orleans. Then a motorcyclist appears on the bridge ..... the motorcyclist pulls a gun and rushes towards Nicole and Dupree.

Nicole throws her laptop at the motorcyclist but he just manages to fire one shot before the laptop hits the gun from his hand.

Nicole grabs the gun and fires a shot at the fleeing motorcyclist.

Then we see that Jack Dupree has apparently been hit by that one bullet from the motorcyclist, 

because Dupree collapses, dead or wounded, over the bridge into the Seinne. We then end up in:

Day 2: April 16, 2008

Nicole has been summoned to Inspector Pety, who briefly sweeps the floor with her because of last night's events on the Pont des Invalides. Nicole has no authority here in Paris and certainly not the authority to just get in the way. Pety has Nicole taken back to the hotel by a gendarme in a police car. Nicole has to pack her luggage and the gendarme is ordered to take her to the airport in the police car and see that Nicole actually leaves the country back to the States. Naturally, Nicole does not plan to sit down and wait for it in her hotel room. No ... of course she wants to scrutinize Jack Dupree's apartment before taking the plane back to America.

A: Sabotage the police car:

Enter the hotel and talk to Pierre again at the desk. Pierre says that a certain Louis Carnot would like to talk to Nicole. Ask Pierre about the rental car and other guests. Pierre gives Nicole the keys to the rental car. Go back outside and talk to the gendarme about the journey to the airport (Departure). Nicole tries to convince the cop that he doesn't have to take her to the airport in the police car. However, the gendarme has his orders and he will not deviate from them. Nicole then says she has to deliver the rental car at the airport, so she suggests that she drive behind the police car to the airport in her rental car. And the gendarme agrees to this.

Go back in and talk to Pierre again. Ask Pierre if the hotel also has a second exit. Yes ... the hotel has a back door. Go outside again and talk to the gendarme again and ask if he would like a cup of coffee. The gendarme would like coffee and a sandwich. Go back in and talk to Pierre again and now ask him about the kitchen. Nicole asks Pierre for coffee and a croissant. Pierre disappears into the kitchen.

The reception desk is placed between 2 pillars. At the right pillar is a suitcase and behind the suitcase is a plant in a pot. Place your magnifying glass on that pot plant and then zoom in on it (Reception desk-right side view). Nicole is standing on the right side of the desk and you will now see a key box on the wall where the key to the back door hangs.

Try to get the key from the key box. However, the box is too far away. Zoom out and walk to the left, to the stairs. To the left of the stairs is a tree in a pot. In the tree pot is a Bamboo stick. To the left of the tree is the back door of the hotel. To the right of the stairs is a large display case on the wall.

Grab the Bamboo Stick. Zoom in on the large display case. Open the cabinet door via the doorknob.

On the top shelf is aCork from champagne bottle and a Handkerchief.

Grab the cork and grab the handkerchief. In the inside of the cabinet door are 2 small metal hooks screwed (Metal hook).

Grab 1 of the 2 Metal Hooks. Close the cupboard door again and zoom out.

Go back to the right side of the reception desk. Combine the Hook with the Bamboo Stick in inventory. Take the bamboo stick with hook from your inventory and click it on the key box and you now fish the key from the box with the bamboo stick. Zoom out again and go back to the stairs. The back door of the hotel is the double door to the left of the stairs. Click with the Key to the back door on the back door to unlock it and then disappear through the door.

Nicole ends up on the street to the left of the policeman, but she does not dare to go further because she is afraid that the policeman will see her. So Nicole goes back inside. Go back out through the front door and right back in. Pierre is back behind his desk. Talk to Pierre again and ask him about the Coffee and the Croissant and Nicole will get it automatically. Pierre disappears again to answer the phone.

Go back outside and talk to the cop again and say "Coffee for monsieur" and Nicole gives the coffee and sandwich to the gendarme. The gendarme is going to eat  and drink the coffee and the sandwich in the middle of the stand. Go back inside and walk to the back door. Go out through the back door quickly and .....

The policeman is on the sidewalk having his breakfast and has therefore turned his back to Nicole. He can't see Nicole.

Nicole sneaks over to the police car and stuffs the car exhaust with the handkerchief and cork. Nicole quickly goes back in through the back door.

Go out through the front door and talk to the agent again and say that you are now ready to leave for the airport (Packed) and ...

 Nicole drives off in her red rental car and the cop starts his police car to follow Nicole.

 But unfortunately for the cop ..... his car does not start now thanks to the sabotage of the exhaust.

B: Montmartre: Rue de Nouveau 3/15:

Enter the house (Entrance) again and then go all the way up. However, Jack Dupree's apartment door has been taped by the police, so Nicole cannot enter through the front door. However, zoom in on the door and try to open the door anyway, so that Nicole says that she must find another way to enter the apartment. Zoom out again and go down 1 floor to the apartment of Agnes Grouchet. On Agnes's floor, open the hallway window and then climb out the window.

Nicole climbs out the window and she is standing on a ledge high above the street.

Nicole moves to the left but then the ledge collapses and Nicole is barely able to grab hold of the window. Nicole then manages to reach the continuation of the ledge.

In the middle of the facade you see an illuminated window. Click with your arrow cursor on that window and ... Nicole shuffles over the ledge to the window. You are then in the close-up of the window. There is an iron Bar on the windowsill. Grab the Iron Bar. You also have to take 3 iron bars from the window fence. You take the 2nd rod from the right from the top of the fence and the two right rods from the bottom. In total you have then 4 bars

Zoom out of the window via the arrow cursor at the bottom left. You will then see Nicole standing on the ledge again.

Now place your cursor on the left end of the ledge, so on the left corner. There is a wire hanging there on the facade.

Left click on that Wire and Nicole shuffles over to it and climbs up the Wire to the top ledge with the dormers.

There are 5 dormer windows and the 2nd from the left is from Jack Dupree's apartment.

Click on Jack Dupree's window and Nicole shuffles over the ledge to it. Nicole is then left of the window. Click on the window again. You are then in the close-up of the window. Move your cursor up over the window posts. At the top of the 2 window posts you get the hand cursor and the indication "Lock".

Click and ..... Nicole tries to open the window but she can't because she can't put her hand in through the crack. Zoom out the window and go one screen to the right and then click with the diagonal right arrow (View of the right side of the roof) to shuffle further to the last 2 roof windows.

Between skylights 3 and 4 is a stack of planks on the ledge. You can also see the chimney on the corner. There is an antenna on top of the chimney. There are iron ladder rungs in the chimney, but the 2 bottom rungs have disappeared.

  • Click twice on the planks to take 2 planks.

  • Then shimmy to the right, to the chimney.

  • You will then enter the close-up of the wall of the chimney.

  • There are 4 holes in the chimney, where the 2 bottom ladder rungs should be.

  • Take the iron bars from your inventory and click on the holes.

  • Do this 4 times so that you have put an iron rod in each hole. 

  • So you have to take the rods from your inventory again and again.

  • Then, one by one, take the 2 planks from your inventory and click one plank on the bottom bars and the 2nd plank on the top bars

  • You have then made 2 wooden rungs.

Zoom out via the arrow under the bottom shelf. Now click on the Antenna, which is on top of the chimney and ....

Nicole climbs slightly up the 2 planks and then she breaks off a piece of the antenna ... it is a piece of aluminum antenna wire.

Go back to the lef,t to Dupree's skylight. Zoom in again on Dupree's skylight. Take the antenna wire from your inventory and click it on the Lock of the skylight, so at the top of the 2 posts. Nicole tells you, that she has to bend the wire first to reach the lock. Put the wire back in inventory and then left click on it to bend the wire into a kind of hook. Then take the wire from inventory again and click on the window pillars (Lock) again and ... now the window will finally open. So go through the now open window.

A desk is in front of the skylight. There is a large closet next to the desk. A dress hangs from the closet.

On the right side of the cabinet is a large bicycle wheel (Wheel). 

Zoom in on the large bicycle wheel and then take out the loosely hanging Spoke (Spoke).

Zoom out again and zoom in on the desk. On the desk is a key ring with 2 keys and a small flashlight.

There is also a Map on the desk. The bottom right drawer is open.

Grab the Keys. View the keys in inventory and you will read the name "Moulin Rouge" on the key ring. Zoom in on the Map. On the map you see a Compass Rose with the wind directions North (N), Northeast (NE) East (E), Southeast (SE), South (S), Southwest (SW), West (W), Northwest (NW). Notice the different colors in which the wind directions are written. Just draw it over.

Zoom out. Zoom in on the opened bottom right drawer. Click in the drawer but Nicole thinks it is too dark in the drawer. So take the newly found keys from your inventory and click them in the drawer. The light on the keys gives you light in the drawer and now you see that there is a hole in the bottom of the drawer on the right.

Put the keys back, then click on the drawer handle to pull the drawer further open. Then take the Spoke from your inventory and click with the Spoke in the hole in the bottom of the drawer. Nicole lifts the front shelf and from under the shelf she grabs an Allen wrench and a piece of paper with the numbers 52314 out. This happens automatically, but check whether you have indeed the Allen key and that number paper in your inventory. View the number paper in your inventory. Nicole says it's a code.

Zoom out of the drawer and Nicole will automatically be in front of the desk again. So the apartment has 2 skylights and the desk is in front of the right window. 

There is a radiator under the left skylight and a coat rack on the wall (Hooks) between the two windows. Place your cursor to the left of the desk and then zoom in with the arrow cursor on the coat rack (Hooks).

  • The coat rack has 5 hooks and under each hook is a Roman numeral.

  • So from left to right: I, II, II, IV, V. However, Hooh V is missing.

  • You can click on the hooks to spin them.

  • The hooks I, II, II and IV are now all 4 up.

  • If you click on a hook, you turn the hook 1 click clockwise.

  • If you click on a hook 8 times, you have turned the hook all the way.

Start  by inserting the Allen key into the hole of the 5th (V) hook. So there is a code on the number code letter. The 5 is orange, the 2 is blue, the 3 is green, the 1 is black, and the 4 is purple.

The order of the numbers tells you in which order to click on the hooks and the color of the numbers correspond to the wind directions you saw on the map.

  • You have to click hook V to the Southwest.

  • You have to click hook II to the northwest.

  • You have to click hook III to the Southeast.

  • You have to click hook I to the West.

  • You have to click hook IV to the Northeast.

Make sure that the 4 hooks and the Allen key are all turned up. Here is the solution:

  • Click 5 times on hook V.

  • Click 7 times on hook II.

  • Click 3 times on hook III.

  • Click 6 times on hook I.

  • Click once on hook IV and ..... below the coat rack a secret panel then clicks open a little.

Zoom in on that panel to open it completely. You have then opened a secret hiding place and it contains a box. On the box are a few letters and a book.

Take the Letters from the box and then right-click the letters in your inventory to see them in the close-up screen. They are letters from a certain Marc Taine from Paris to Jack Dupree in New Orleans. Close the close-up screen and then grab the box with the booklet on top. Your game will now be automatically saved. View the box in the close-up screen. So Jack Dupree was very eager to find this box and the booklet.

Close the close-up screen and left click on the box in your inventory to remove the booklet. Then left click on the Booklet (Notebook) and Nicole then reads the booklet. You experience that Jack's roots lie here in France. Jack's ancestor is one Gerard Louis de Bougainville. Bougainville migrated to New Orleans and then changed its name. When Nicole has finished reading the book, she hears someone on the stairs. Quickly ... put the book back in your inventory and click with the arrow cursor on the closet and ....

Nicole quickly hides in the closet. A guy with a gun in his hand steps into Jack's attic room.Nicole jumps out of the closet, throwing the gun fan to the floor. The guy shoots at Nicole but Nicole manages to escape through the skylight.  Nicole somehow managed to get back in her red rental car. 

Zoom in on the TOMTOM again and then click on the green flag of the Hotel in the TOMTOM screen to drive back to the:

C: Hotel:

Nicole parks the car opposite the Café. Enter the hotel again. Nicole is approached in the hall by Louis Carnot. Carnot wants to know where his friend Jack Dupree is. Nicole receives the business card from Louis Carnot, who goes on to say that Jack Dupree has some valuable documents from him. Carnot then disappears. Nicole doesn't trust the guy and doesn't believe his story.

Talk to Pierre and use the "Safe" topic and Nicole gives the box to Pierre to put it in the hotel safe. Also use the "Family" topic to explain to Pierre why you want to put the box in the safe. Leave the hotel again and go via the bottom of the screen, to the other side of the street and then click on Nicole's red rental car and zoom in again on the TOMTOM and click on the green Moulin Rouge Flag, because Nicole wants to go there now.

The Puppeteer prepares a new doll for the next murder.

Day 3: April 17th 2008:

A: The Moulin Rouge:

It is still night and Nicole has parked the car in front of the famous nightclub the Moulin Rouge.

Click with the arrow cursor on the entrance of the nightclub. The Moulin Rouge is closed. Click on the doors. The doors are of course locked.

Take the Moulin Rouge keys you took from Jack's desk from your inventory and click on the doors but ..... the keys don't fit. In front of the doors is a barrier of posts and canvas tape. The tape on the left post is loose. Grab the loose piece of Canvas Tape from the left post. On the left and right are 2 posters, but on the left there is also a poster on the floor. Grab the poster on the left on the floor. The poster is no longer complete but shows a dancer performing the CanCan.

Walk back down to the street and then walk up the street,  and the go into The Back and Nicole ends up in the alley behind the Moulin Rouge. The building on the left is under construction. At the end of the scaffold you will see a lot of sand on which is also a Wheelbarrow. Straight ahead is the back Entrance of the Moulin Rouge. Continue to the sand pile.

There is a bucket in front of the wheelbarrow. There is a hole in the bottom of the bucket (Leaky bucket). There is a pipe on the sand pile. The wheelbarrow is upside down with the wheel up. The tire on the wheel is flat. Get the Bucket. Take the wheel from the wheelbarrow. In inventory, click on the wheelbarrow wheel to remove the flat tire. You are then left with the metal wheel (Rim). Also take the pipe from the sand pile. Continue to the right, to the rear entrance of the Moulin Rouge. In the sidewalk, to the right of the back entrance, is a metal cellar hatch. Above the hatch there is a hook on the wall. On the left wall is a green Water conduit box.

Click on the back door. The back door is of course locked. Zoom in on the basement hatch. Try to see if Nicole can open the hatch by clicking on the hatch handle. However, the hatch is locked with a padlock. Use the pipe on the padlock. Nicole manages to pry open the padlock with the pipe. Now try again to see if Nicole can open the hatch. Unfortunately ... the hatch is too heavy for Nicole to open. Above the hatch there is a hook in the wall. Take the Wheel (Rim) from your inventory and hang the wheel on the wall hook. Attach the piece of Canvas tape to the hatch handle. Nicole then ensures that the tape also ends up over the wheel.

Zoom out and now zoom in on the green Water Tap box, which is on the left wall. On top of the box is a Valve. Open the door of the box. You can place a bucket in the box and then fill the bucket with water. You have a bucket, but the thing is leaking. Combine the Poster with the Bucket in inventory to seal the hole in the bucket with the poster. Then place the bucket in the water box and then click on the turning wheel to fill the bucket with water. Nicole will tell you when the bucket is full.

Take the filled bucket back from the box and zoom out and zoom in on the hatch again. Take the filled bucket from your inventory and click with the bucket on the wheel that you have attached to the wall hook. Then click on the bucket and ....... through the siphoning effect of the bucket filled with water, Nicole now succeeds in lifting the hatch.

Well .... go through the now open hatch and Nicole ends up in the Moulin Rouge. However, the hatch has closed again because the bucket has started leaking again. Nicole has ended up in a hallway. Go back through the narrow yellow door. Nicole tries to push the hatch back up, but she can't. Nicole cannot leave the theater through the hatch. Back in the hallway you try to open the double exit doors, but they are also locked.

Go back down one screen. You will then see that the left wall of the corridor is full of theater clothes. You also see a staircase. The stairs go up to a door. To the left of the stairs, at the beginning of the clothing gallery, you will see a gray door. On the narrow wall hangs a red box with a red axe in it. Below that box is a red Fire extinguisher.

See if Nicole can open that gray door. However, this door is also locked. Use Jack Dupree's Moulin Rouge keys on the gray door and ... the door will open. 

It turns out to be the door of the dressing room. Enter the room.

Dressing room:

You can now see Nicole from above in the dressing room. On the left wall is the make-up table with the mirror. There is a telephone on the front left of the make-up table. You can zoom in on the table in front of the left mirror and on the table in front of the right mirror. In the back wall you see another drawer. Also move your cursor over the right wall. Between all the mess there is a small round table with a loose doll's arm on it.

It is dark in the dressing room, so Nicole does not see much, but on the right door post is the light switch.

So click on the light button to turn on the light, then zoom in on the left half of the table where the phone is.

Then press with your hand / finger cursor on the blue green key of the phone. You will then hear a recorded message from Louis Carnot. Carnot threatens someone. He tells that person to prevent Dupree from finding what he is looking for. Carnot is talking to Jack Dupree's girlfriend Jackie. Zoom out and then zoom in on the right half of the table, at the right mirror.

Behind the "Grazy Mr. Cookie" box  is a black bottle with a gray cap. View the bottle. There is something in the bottle. Get the Bottle. Then left click on the bottle in your inventory and .... a Crucifix and a strip of Aspirin will come out of the bottle. Left click on the Crucifix and ... the Crucifix opens and becomes a Weirdly shaped key. Zoom out of the table and then zoom in on the Drawer, which is on the floor under the scaffolding against the back  wall. Open the drawer. On the right in the drawer are some Envelopes. Grab the Envelopes.

Right-click in inventory on the envelopes. The letters in these envelopes are from Mark Taine and addressed to Jack Dupree's girlfriend Jack. Zoom out of the drawer Just in front of Nicole you see a small round table protruding on the right. The arm of a mannequin lies on that table. Grab the mannequin arm from the table. Left click in inventory on the mannequin arm and Nicole takes off a Ring. You also keep the mannequin arm in inventory. Exit the dressing room.

Back in the hallway, click on the red box with the axe in it. Nicole can use the axe but to get the axe she has to break the glass of the red box. Take the mannequin arm from your inventory and click it on the axe box to break the glass and ..... You will hear 2 male voices talking about killing Nicole. The men are upstairs so Nicole urgently needs to get away.

Grab the axe from the red box. Also grab the Fire Extinguisher. Go back down the hall to the double exit doors.

Nicole thinks she can use the fire extinguisher to get out of the theater. Take the fire extinguisher from your inventory and then click on the floor, just in front of the exit door. Nicole puts the fire extinguisher flat on the floor, with the back facing the door. Take the Axe from your inventory and click it on the yellow lever, which is on the front of the fire extinguisher and ...

With the ax Nicole chops the valve of the fire extinguisher, which flies out through the door with enormous force.

Nicole escapes from the Moulin Rouge and returns to her red rental car at the front of the Moulin Rouge.

Click on Nicole's red car and ......

Nicole gets in her rental car and drives away .... but .... Nicole has an uninvited passenger in her car who is pressing a gun to her head.

This man seems to know Inspector Pety. Nicole and her armed passenger then end up in Nicole's hotel room.

B: Hotel:

Talk to the uninvited guest, the man in the chair. It is the armed and uninvited passenger, but he turns out to be harmless. His name is Rene Fourier and he is a private investigator and Jack Dupree is a client of his. Continue to talk to Fourier and use all conversation options.

Fourier is convinced of Jack Dupree's innocence. Jack has come to France to find out his family history after he had received some letters from one Mr. Marc Taine. Fourier says that Jack's ancestors are the Bougainvilleas, old French nobility. During the terrorist reign of Robert Spierre, Jean Jacques Bougainville struck a deal with Lucas Carnot. This Lucas Carnot would ensure that the Bougainvilles could flee to America in order to escape the guillotine. Unfortunately, something went wrong because the entire Bougainville family was arrested and executed. Fourier and Nicole are convinced that Jack is now dead at the bottom of the Seinne and Fourier is eager to investigate the chest that Nicole found in Dupree's attic.

Go to the reception desk and talk to Pierre again and ask him to take the Box out of the safe. Pierre goes to collect the box and gives the box back to Nicole. Go back to your room and talk to Rene Fourier again, who wants to know what's in the box. Jack's box is locked, though, so Nicole doesn't know what's inside.

If you have not done it yet, click on the Crucifix in inventory to expand it to the Weirdly shaped key. Then use this key on the box to open the box. Then right click on the opened box to view the contents in the close-up screen. There is a diary in the box in scraps of paper. Close the close-up screen. Then left click on the box in inventory to remove the Scraps of an old document from the box. Right-click on the Shredded Paper and ..... you are in the:

Scraps of paper puzzle:

You have done this before in an adventure game. You have to puzzle the scraps of paper together into a whole document. The final document is then part of a map. With a left click you pick up the pieces and drag them. With Right-click you rotate the pieces. You can use the whole screen. So first drag the pieces apart, to the edges of the screen and then puzzle them together.

The pieces don't fit together seamlessly, so there will be space between the pieces.

But pieces that fit together click together and you can no longer click them loose.

BEWARE .... Once you have put all the pieces together  Nicole tells you this and then you have to act quickly ......

Quicly .... Take the Adhesive Tape from your inventory and click it on the document to tape the pieces together with the adhesivetape.

If you are too slow with this, the document will fall apart again and you can start all over again.

Close the puzzle screen when you have pieced and taped the document together. Then talk to Rene Fourier again and use all the topics. Nicole talks to Fourier about the map. Nicole also sees a castle and a coastline. Nicole wants to pay this Marc Taine a visit. We will automatically end up in Nicole's rental car again. Zoom in again on the TOMTOM screen and then click on the green flag in the screen to drive to Marc Taine's apartment.

C: Marc Taine's apartment:

Fourier forces the lock on the door and Nicole and he enter. Nicole and Fourier check out a wall full of photos. The pictures show all the victims of the Puppeteer and also future victims. So this apartment appears to be the home of the Puppeteer. Is this Marc Taine the Puppeteer then? Nicole and Fourier talk about the victims, the Puppeteer and the dolls. According to Nicole, the dolls are the key and are very important to the killer. Because the dolls are different for each victim, they are witnesses, according to Nicole. Fourier then tells that he has alerted the killer to one of the future victims, an antique dealer from Azzara in the Pyrenees, and Nicole decides to go there.

After the conversation, zoom in on the photos (Board) with the arrow cursor between Nicole and Fourier. Take the camera from your inventory and then take a picture of both the left photo board and the right photo board. So you take 2 photos, 1 of the left board and 1 of the right board.

 

There is a table in the front left of the room. Marc Taine, the Puppeteer, makes his dolls on that table. Zoom in on the table. An unfinished doll lies in the center of the table. There are also pictures on the table showing Nicole in front of the hotel. Take the camera from your inventory again and take a picture of the table. There is a coffee cup at the bottom left of the table. 

Perhaps there are fingerprints on the coffee cup? Take the Fingerprint foil from your inventory and click it on the coffee cup and .... With the foil Nicole then removes a set of fingerprints from the coffee cup. In your inventory you then have foil with fingerprints. Zoom out of the table again. The kitchen is on the right. In the kitchen there is a pipe wrench (Unbolted monkey wrench) on the floor. Grab the Pipe Wrench.

Rene Fourier is still standing by the wall on which the photos hang. There is a file cabinet in the corner near Fourier. Zoom in on the file cabinet. Open the top drawer of the file cabinet and then zoom in on it. At the top left is Marc Taine's Driver's license in the drawer. Grab the driver's license.

 

Zoom out and close the drawer. Then click on the file cabinet, but not on the top drawer again. Nicole now slides the file cabinet away to the left and you can now see that the wall, where the file cabinet was, is lighter in color than the rest of the wall. Ram with the Pipe Wrench on the lighter colored wall but ..... Nicole tells you to bend the pliers first. So place the pipe wrench back in your inventory and then left click on it. Then take the pipe wrench from inventory again and now click it 4 times on the wall and .... Nicole rams the plaster and discovers that there is a door behind the plaster.

 

Put the pipe wrench back away and try to get through the door. However, the door is locked.

Take the driver's license from your inventory and click it on the door handle and ... the door opens. Enter the secret room through the now open door.

Secret room:

 

There is a Freezer in front of the large cupboard and a Bucket  next to the freezer. At the bottom right is a Blanket on the ground. Zoom in on the freezer. There is water in the bucket. Right click on the bucket. Nicole wonders why there is a bucket of water next to the freezer. Open the freezer and .....

Nicole gets the shock of her life. There is a body stuffed in the freezer and it is the body of .... Marc Taine !!!.

But then Marc Taine can not be the Puppeteer after all. Was Twaine murdered by the Puppeteer? Who is the Puppeteer then ?.

Take your camera from your inventory again and take a picture of the body in the freezer. Zoom out and go back through the door to the previous room and ....

the murderer has come and killed Rene Fourier with a knife. The apartment is on fire. Killer then sees Nicole and he flees.

Jeezzzzz ....... it is really deadly to be friends with Nicole. Everyone she comes into contact with is murdered. Well .... going back to the previous room is not an option this way. Smoke comes in through the door. So there is a blanket on the floor at the bottom right. Quick .... Grab the Blanket. Then click with the Blanket on the bucket with water, which is near the freezer. Nicole soaks the blanket. Click on the door with the soaking wet blanket and .... Nicole ends up safely through the burning room and into the stairwell.

Leave the house on the right edge of the screen and out on the street again click on Nicole's red rental car.

Zoom in again on the TOMTOM screen. The TOMTOM screen now shows you part of Europe.

A green flag is on Zaragossa, on the border between France and Spain. Click on the green flag and you and Nicole end up in:

Chapter 2: Spain: Azzara:

Day 4: April 18, 2008:

Nicole has ended up in Spanish Pyrenees country, in Azzara, where she now stands at the garage of a certain Raul Hierro. Nicole's rental car has broken down and Raul is already doing the repairs. Talk to Raul and use all options. Unfortunately, Nicole's rental car will not be repaired today. However, do ask Raul about the antique bookseller (Antiquarian) because that's why Nicole drove all the way to Spain. Raul says that the antique book seller can be found on the market square. Raul also says that this small, and otherwise boring town, is rich in ancient ruins.

When you have asked Raul everything, say goodbye and go one screen to the right. Nicole then ends up on the market square, but there is no market today. The bookshop, owned by antiques bookseller Antoine Sourian, is located in the building behind Nicole (Antiquarian bookshop building).

On the left you see a house with 3 flags on the balcony. Under the balcony is the door of the local supermarket (Shop). To the right of the shop is a Café. On the right a red car is parked. Via the arrow above the red car you can go to the right, to the Fountain. Go to the:

Bookshop:

Enter the bookshop and talk to Antoine Sourian, the book seller who sits at his desk. Use all options. 

Nicole tells the bookseller that he will be The Puppeteer's next victim. Nicole also talks about Marc Taine and the photos she saw in Taine's apartment. Antoine Sourian has trouble believing what Nicole is telling him and asks Nicole for the names of the other murdered people. Nicole mentions the names and also says that she has photos of these victims. Antoine wants to see those photos, but Nicole will have to print them first. Meanwhile, Antoine will search his archive for a certain list.

Exit the bookshop again, via the left edge of the screen. Outside you walk one screen to the left and you are back on the large overview screen of the square. Now go to the supermarket store, under the balcony with the 3 flags on it. Click on the shop door but the shop is closed. However, the poster next door tells you that it is Raul Tienda's shop.

Walk back to the right and go back to Antoine Sourian in the bookshop. Talk to Antoine again and tell him the store is closed. Antoine says that the owner can probably be found in the garage. Exit the bookshop and go back to the Garage (To Workshop). Raul is now working in his garage. Talk to Raul again and ask him if your car is repaired (Damage car) and then about the shop owner. Raul Hierro turns out to be the owner of the supermarket. Use the Photo topic. Nicole then hands the camera to Raul, who promises to print the photos today. Go back to the market square and go back to the shop. Click on the door again and .... well the supermarket is now open and Nicole is now going inside.

Notice the slot on the wall. Talk to Raul, who is now behind the counter and ask him about the photos. The pictures are ready. Ask how much you have to pay (Payment). Raul wants 68 euros for the photos. Unfortunately, Nicole does not have that much money with her. So exit and exit the store. Now cross the square to the Fontein.

As is the case in foreign villages, people often throw coins in the fountains. This fountain is also full of coins. Click in the fountain as many times as necessary to collect all the coins from the water. You will then have the following coins: one 1 pound coin, one 50 cent coin, one 5 zlotys coin, two coins of 500 yen each, two coins of 10 Euro, four 2 Euro coins, one old coin, 3 coins of 5 euro and eight coins of 1 euro. After about 17 clicks, Nicole has had enough. So in total you have fished 18 coins from the fountain.

Supermarket:

Gambling machine:

Go back to the supermarket and inside again. There is a gambling machine on the wall. Zoom in on the slot machine. Nicole asks Raul if she can play the.Raul cannot promise that the slot will work properly. Zoom back in on the gambling machine. Nicole hopes to win enough euros from the machine to pay Raul and to be able to drive back to France, once Raul has fixed her car.

The machine costs 2 euros per game and it is also a normal fruit machine with 4 buttons. The left button is the start button and with the other 3 buttons you are stuck the 3 screens. Probably the machine already shows 3 of the same fruit in the screens and if so, you have actually already won. Put 2 euro coins in the coin slot and then click on the 3 buttons to lock each screen, if there are already 3 matches in the screens. Then click on the start button and ..... you immediately win the pot.

NB: If you do not have 3 of the same fruit in the screens, if you zoom in on the slot machine, you will have to play until the machine gives you 3 equal. You can only start the machine if you throw in 2 euro coins, but they do not necessarily have to be 1 euro coins. You can also put in 2 euros, 5 euros, 4 euros or 10 euros. The counter then indicates how many times you can play.

When you have won the pot, zoom in on the coin slot to zoom in on the bottom of the machine. Grab all coins from the bin (Game winnings) and zoom out again. Talk to Raul again and say you want to pay for the photos (Payment and picking up the photos).  Nicole then gives Raul the 68 euros and receives the photos. Continue to talk to Raul about his shop and then say goodbye. In your inventory you should now have the developed photos and your camera. Exit the shop and go back to:

Bookshop:

Talk to Antoine Sourain again in the bookshop. Use the photo topic and Nicole gives the photos to Antoine.

Antoine now tells that the names of the victims appear on the list of people who, during the French Revolution, helped to help Aristocrats flee. Antoine is going to pick up that list. Continue to talk to Antoine about the Puppeteer's motives and then about his departure.

Antoine does not think the motive can be revenge ... why would anyone want to take revenge only now, 200 years after the French Revolution. He also doesn't think it's about money. The people who helped with the flight of the Aristocrats did not receive any money for it. It has always been assumed that the Nobility hid her fortune in the elaborate catacombs below Paris.

Antoine does not want to go with Nicole to Paris yet because there is something he has to do here. So ask Antoine what it is he still needs to do (Task to take care of). The  motorcycle of Antoine's grandson has broken down and Antoine has promised to fix it. Grandson is currently in Australia and the motorcycle is in Antoine's garden.

After this conversation Antoine walks away again to put away the list of names and then he takes place behind his desk again. Go one screen to the right. You will then arrive at the back door of the bookstore. There is a Safe in the right corner. To the left of the back door is a cupboard with a Bull statue. Right in front of the back door is Antoine's work table.

Click on the back door to enter the garden. Unfortunately .... this is one of those games where all doors are always locked. So walk back and talk to Antoine again. Ask Antoine for the Garden key. However, Antoine is not sure anymore where he left the key. He does give a hint ..... he was reading a Proust book when he last saw the key. Antoine then mentions the title and author of the book and you must now look up that book in the bookcases.

NB: The name of the writer Antoine tells you does not have to be Proust. It could also be another author's book. 

The place where you have to look for that book can also vary in the game.

So the name of the writer Antoine just mentioned to you is a hint as to where to find the key to the back door. Again .... that name, and also the location, can be different in each new game. So with me it was the book "A la recherche du temps perdu" by the writer Proust so I have to look for this book by Proust in the bookshop.

To the left of the spiral staircase is a ladder and the wall is full of bookcases. Move your cursor over the bookcases (Rack). You will get the Magnifier cursor on the bookcases in a certain place. Then zoom in on that place and then move your cursor over the books, until you have found the right book, the book that Antoine just told you about. Then click on that book and Nicole will automatically find the back door key.

Zoom out and go back to the back door. Open the back door with the key just found and then step outside into the backyard.

Zoom in on the red motorcycle. Nicole now has to repair the bike.

The motorcycle is missing the rear wheel. The wheel cap is in front of the motorcycle. On the right is a stack of planks with a Flat key. Grab the wrench. Zoom out again and go back into the bookshop and talk to Antoine again and ask him about the Wheel. Antoine then gets up again and walks away. Now zoom in on the desk and then grab the blue Marker from the desk.

Exit the bookshop through the front door and go to the garage and in the garage talk to Raul again and ask him for the wheel of the motorcycle. Well .... Raul hasn't made the wheel yet and he wants Nicole to help him put a new inner and outer tire around the wheel. Nicole has to bring Raul a tire that is not flat and she also has to bring Raul the wheel and a tire Tire iron.

Behind Nicole is the Damaged motorcycle wheel. Grab the Wheel. In the foreground is a large tub and on the right is a blue Compressor.

Zoom in on the tub. To the left of the tub is a Tire iron on the ground. Grab the Tire Iron. The tub is empty.

Zoom out again and talk to Raul and tell him you found the wheel. Nicole will give the wheel to Raul.

You then have to shut down and talk to Raul again to give him the tire iron as well.

When you have given Raul the wheel and tire iron, zoom in on the blue compressor.

Right behind the compressor is an empty Ban Tube. Grab the Tube.

There is a green button on the compressor. The compressor gun is attached to the hose.

Switch on the compressor by clicking on the green button.

Then take the empty Tire from your inventory and click it on the Compressor Gun to fill the tire with air.

Quicky now .... Nicole has to check if the tire is not flat.

Grab the inflated tire. There will now be a timer.

Quickly zoom out and exit the garage and go to the fountain on the market square.

Click the inflated tire in the fountain and ..... Nicole dips the tire in the water of the fountain and finds the puncture in the tire.

In your inventory, quickly combine the Marker with the Tire to mark the puncture on the tire.

If you do this all too slowly, your time is up and you will have to start over from inflating the tire in the garage.

If you have been fast enough, Nicole has marked the puncture on the tire blue. The timer has then disappeared. Go back to the garage and talk to Raul again and say you marked the puncture in the tire (Marked hole in tube). Unfortunately Raul has no stickers. Nicole therefore has to look for a piece of rubber with which to seal the leak in the tire.

Bookshop / Garage / Bookshop:

Go back to the bookshop and inside again and then through the back door to the garden. Nicole is then under the little roof of the back door. On the little roof you will see a small gray spot (Patched hole). Right click on that gray spot on the roof. Nicole says it is a piece of rubber that has been placed on the roof as a roof tile.

Try to grab the piece of rubber, but the roof is too high.

Go back inside and talk to Antoine, who is now behind the spiral staircase near the bookcase.

Ask Antoine if you can borrow his umbrella and you can.

The umbrella is in the umbrella stand to the right of the desk. Grab the umbrella and go back to the garden.

Then click with the umbrella on the rubber tile on the roof and ....

The piece of rubber is then on the ground. Grab the Rubber. Unfortunately the umbrella gets stuck in the roof.

Go back in and out through the front door. Go back to the garage and talk to Raul again and tell him you found a piece of Rubber (Patch).

The annoying Raul thinks the piece of rubber is too big and wants you to cut the rubber to size.

Go back to the bookstore and inside again. Continue to the back door but do not go out.

Right in front of the back door is Antoine's work table. Zoom in on the work table and then grab the Scissors that is on it.

Combine the scissors with the rubber in inventory and Nicole cuts the rubber to the right size. Go back to the garage and talk to Raul again and tell him you cut the rubber to size (Perfect patch) and ... finally ... finally ... the lazy Raul will now repair the wheel of the motorcycle, although you still have to keep pushing. In your inventory you will have the repaired wheel but the tire has no air (Fixed motorcycle tire without air). So zoom in on the blue compressor again. turn the compressor back on with the green button and then click the wheel on the gun to fill the tire around the wheel with air.

Grab the now inflated wheel and head back to the bookstore. Go back in through the front door and ....

Unfortunately, Antoine Sourian is murdered and his corpse is hanging on the spiral staircase.

The inevitable doll the Puppeteer always leaves behind lies against the bottom step of the spiral staircase.

Take a plastic evidence bag from your inventory and click it on the doll to put the doll in the bag and store it in your inventory.

You briefly see the murder of Antoine.

Walk to the right again, to the back door. So in the right corner is the Safe. To the left of the back door is a cupboard with a small statue of a Bull on it. Zoom in on the Safe. Nicole notices streaks on the floor, as if the safe has ever been moved. Zoom out of the safe.

Open the Safe:

Zoom in on the Bull standing on the cupboard to the left of the door. Click on the Bull and you will see the numerical code for the safe on the bottom of the bull. This code is different each time so please write it over. The code I am getting now is: 5/22/26/15/07, but it may very well be that you will get a different code, so write the code over.

 Zoom out again and zoom in again on the safe. Now zoom in on the number dial of the safe. You only see the numbers 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25.

The other dashes do not contain numbers, but each dash is a number. the 0 (zero) is now under the red dot.

Turn the 1st digit anti-clockwise to the red dot,

Turn the 2nd digit clockwise to the red dot,

The 3rd digit you turn left to the red dot,

Turn the 4th digit clockwise to the red dot and the 5th digit to the left to the red dot.

You will not hear a click if you put the correct number lines under the red dot in the correct way.

If you do hear a click, it means that you have turned the knob the wrong way.

If you go wrong, click in the middle of the button to reset the button and then try again.

Do that turning slowly and line by line, but only release your mouse button when you have the correct line under the red dot

When you have put all 5 numbers correctly under the red dot, click on the handle of the safe and ..... the safe will open.

In the safe is a gun on a book and there is a dragon statue in the safe. There are also 2 books in the bottom compartment. Nicole is not interested in any of this. In the top compartment, however, are also the Wheels of the Safe (Safe wheels). Grab the safe wheels from the safe. Zoom out of the safe. The safe is on a wooden beam on the right. There should be a wheel under the safe on the right front and right back. Take the Safe wheels from your inventory and click them at the back right under the safe to attach the right rear wheel under the safe. Then take the remaining safe wheel from your inventory and place it at the front right under the safe.

Then click on the side of the safe to slide the safe off the wall ... but ..... Nicole cannot move it.

Nicole needs a lever to slide the safe off the wall.

Go back 2 screens to where Antoine's desk is. There are 6 paintings on the wall, behind the desk.

A Rapier sword hangs under the large right painting. Grab the Rapier from the wall and go back to the safe.

 

Zoom in again on the safe. On top of the safe are 2 metal eyes (Safe handles).

Put the Rapier through those 2 eyes, so click with the rapier on top of the safe.

Then take Nicole a small step to the right so that you can see the handle of the rapier.

Then click on the handle of the rapier and the safe now slides away from the wall, but the wooden bar under the safe is now in the way

 

So click on the wooden bar to pick it up and store it in your inventory (Block of wood).

Then click again on the handle of the rapier and now the safe slides all the way to the left.

In the paneling, behind the safe, you can see the outline of a secret panel.

Zoom in on the panel and then click on the small lever (Twine) to open the panel

In the secret compartment  is the List of people and the Motorcycling key.

Take the List of Names and take the Mountain Bike Key. There is also a book in the box, but you cannot get it.

View the Name list in your inventory. It is only a partial list, but you can just see the name of Louis Carnot's ancestor on it.

Zoom out of all safe screens. Zoom in again on Antoine's work table and then take the round stool in front of the table.

Repair the motorcycle:

Go back to the garden through the back door. Zoom back in on the motorcycle in the garden. Click on the round stool in your inventory to remove the round seat. You only have the frame of the stool (Stool without seat).

Place the Stool without seat frame under the rear wheel block (Motorcycle back) of the motorcycle. The frame then serves as a jack. Take the Wrench from your inventory and click it on the frame of the stool to jack up the frame and thereby also jack up the rear of the motorcycle.

Take the Block of wood from your inventory and click it in the middle under the motorcycle to place the block exactly in the middle under the motorcycle. Take the inflated rear wheel from your inventory and then place the wheel on the rear axle of the motorcycle. Nicole herself then removed the stool frame.

The Wheel cap is located in the purple shell. Take the wheel nut from the purple bowl. Now zoom in on the rear wheel and then place the wheel nut on the screw bolt.Then click with the wrench on the wheel bolt to tighten the wheel bolt.

But unfortunately .... the wrench is too big and Nicole cannot tighten the wheel bolt with it. Put the wrench back away and take one of your remaining coins from your inventory. It doesn't matter which coin you take .Click with the coin on the wheel bolt to place the coin on top of the wheel bolt. Then click again with the wrench on the wheel bolt and Nicole now tightens the wheel bolt firmly.

Zoom out and click on the front of the motorcycle to push the bike off the wooden block. Take the Motorcycle Key from your inventory and click it on the front of the motorcycle and .....

Nicole starts the motorcycle and drives it to:

Chapter 3: France: Marseilles:

Day 5: April 19, 2008:

A: Port / Telephone booth and Boats:

Nicole drove to Marseille on a motorcycle because this is where Louis Carnot's palace is and Nicole is now certain that this Louis Carnot plays an important role in this murder mystery. So we are on the coast of the Mediterranean and Nicole is at the entrance gate of the Carnot palace. Right in front of the gate and path goes down to a pier in the sea (harbor). Further to the left you see a telephone booth and there you also see that a piece of wall has disappeared at the top of the wall.

Walk to the large gate and then zoom in on it. There is a yellow "Beware of the dog" sign on the gate. The bell hangs to the right of the gate. Click on the bell and a guard will appear. Talk to the guard and ask if you can enter. That's not allowed. Mr. Carnot can only be spoken by appointment. No matter how Nicole insists, she's not allowed in.

Zoom out and Nicole will automatically walk back to the motorcycle. Now go one screen to the left, via the left edge of the screen. You are then back on the overview of the coastal road along the wall. To the left you see again the telephone booth and almost on the corner you see that a piece has disappeared from the top of the wall. Go to that left corner of the wall and Nicole is then just past the phone booth and at the part of the wall where a piece has disappeared. Zoom in on the telephone booth and Nicole enters the telephone booth.

There is a large stone on the phone book. Next to the phone book is a film roll (Container for film). There is a small stone on top of the phone. Grab the Big Stone. Grab the film roll container. Grab the small Stone. Click on the film roll container in inventory. A hanger with rubber suction cup comes out of the tube. Get out of the phone booth and go back to the right and then walk back to the gate of the palace. At the bottom center of your screen a path goes down to a landing stage (To harbor). So double click at the bottom of that path and Nicole ends up on a stone pier where 2 row boats are moored.

The green rowboat is as leaky. Zoom in on the green rowboat.

From left to right you see in this totally leaky boat a Small Bucket Without Bottom, a Large Bucket, a Rope and a green plank that serves as a "bridge".

Grab the 2 Buckets. Grab the Rope and grab the Green Plank. 

Zoom out via the right edge of the screen. Click on the large bucket in your inventory and you take out a screwdriver.

Now zoom in on the back of the white boat, so the side that is against the pier. You will then see the helm of the white boat. There is a hook in the edge of the pier. Take the Rope from your inventory and attach the rope to the Hook and .... Nicole ties the rope to the helm of the white boat and to the hook. The boat will now float more calmly on the water. Take the green plank from your inventory and then click the plank on the rudder and Nicole lays the plank down as a gangway.

Zoom out at the top edge of the screen. Now click with your magnifying glass on the front side of the white boat and ....

Nicole steps into the white boat and lifts the anchor and puts the anchor in inventory.

Nicole is back on the pier. Zoom in again on the back of the white boat. Grab the green plank back and also grab the rope. Zoom out again. Take the Film Roll container from your inventory and click it on the sea water, to the right of the white boat. Nicole fills the container with seawater. Combine the Anchor with the Rope in your inventory and you have an Anchor on a rope

Go back via the path (Up) up to the road and walk back to the telephone booth and the piece of wall where a piece has disappeared at the top. Take the Anchor / Rope from your inventory and click it on the breach in the wall (To the palace). However, the guard is sitting here on the other side of the wall and Nicole is worried that the sound of the anchor will be heard by the guard. The guard has to be lured to the gate  for a while and then Nicole can climb over the wall here.

B: Climb over the wall:

Go back to the gate and zoom in on the gate again.

SAVE YOUR GAME NOW because it will be on a timer again and if it goes wrong you will not get a second chance.

Right under the bell is a place where you have to place the big bucket (A spot under the wall).

  • Place the Large bucket under the bell on the floor, against the wall.

  • Place the Small Bucket Without Bottom on top of the large bucket.

  • Place the green plank on top of the buckets.

  • To the right of the Bell, a green branch (Cornice) protrudes from the stones of the wall. There is a ledge above this branch. 

  • Zoom in on the green branch and you are zoomed in on the ledge above the bell. Place the Big Stone on the ledge

  • In your inventory, combine the Aspirin with the Film container in which you put seawater.You then have a closed tube with aspirin (Container with fizzy aspirin).

There is now a timer again, so you have to be quick because you now have exactly 1 minute to reach the wall at the telephone booth again.

Place the tube next to the large rock on the ledge.

Zoom out 2 or 3 times and ....Quickly run back to the telephone booth and the breach in the wall and take the Anchor / rope from your inventory and place the Anchor / rope on the breach in the wall.

Now keep waiting for the timer to fill up the minute completely.

When the minute has passed, you will see in a short cutscene  that the film container bursts open due to the pressure of the asprin tablets of. This causes the large stone to fall down and the bell will sound. The guard then goes to the gate to see who is at the door. 

Quickly ... immediately after the cutscene click on the breach in the wall with the Anchor / Rope and Nicole climbs the wall via the Anchor / Rope. The guard has now gone because he has gone to the gate. Quick .... Click on the path with your arrow cursor and ......

Nicole then ends up at the front door of the Palace. Click on the front door and ....

Nicole peeks in through the front door and sees a sleeping guard sitting in the hall.

Note: If you were too slow from the time you put the aspirin in the film container, or waited too long to click over the wall, you will have to redo this entire section. Unfortunately you will then no longer have the large stone and the film container. So your only option is to load your SAVE GAME and do it again.

C: Get into the Palace:

At the bottom of the facade are small basement windows. Zoom in on the basement window right next to the front door. Click on the window. Nicole wonders how she could open the window silently.

Click in inventory on the Hanger with rubber sucker to remove the hook from the suction cup. You are then left with the Suction cup (Rubber sucker).

Combine the Suction Cup with the Screwdriver and then combine the Ring with the Screwdriver and you have made a Glass-cutting tool. Click with the glass cutter on the cellar window to vacuum the thing to the right window.

Then click on the glass cutter to cut a nice round circle in the window.Then click with the Small Stone on the circle you have made in the window and ..... you have cut a nice round circle out of the glass.

Now click in the round hole you cut in the window to open the window and then go in through the opened basement window.

D: In the Palace: 

Basement

Nicole finds Jack Dupree in the basement. Jack sits on the floor with his hands tied behind his back against an antique machine. Well ..... ok .... So Jack is not dead. Click on Jack with your talk cursor. Jack's mouth is sealed with silver tape and Nicole removes the tape and puts it in her pockets. You will then have a piece of Silver Tape in your inventory. Then talk to Jack again and use all the options.

Jack's "death", on the bridge in Paris, was thus staged by Jack and Marc Taine. According to Jack, Louis Carnot killed his girlfriend Jacqueline. Also according to Jack, Louis Carnot is the Puppeteer. So Jack's ancestors belonged to the French Aristocracy and this palace used to be their property. Louis Carnot is looking for the hidden treasure of Jack's family and therefore Carnot has not killed Jack yet. The piece of map that you found in Jack's chest and pieced it together is part of the map showing the treasure's hiding place. So there are more pieces of that map and you have to find them all. However, these pieces of the map are hidden in various places in the world.

if you have discussed everything with Jack then you have also ended the conversation automatically. Nicole has to find a knife, or something else, with which to cut Jack's shackles. In the left corner is the door to the hallway. To the left of that door is a large oven (Kitchen). Go to the oven and have a look at everything. Then go through the door (Corridor) to the hallway. In the hallway the guard is snoring on the chair. Nicole tells you that it is safer to move quietly. Nicole will start to sneak forwards on her own if you set her in motion.

The guard is at the left door. On the right is also a door and there is also a table. There is a newspaper  on the table. Grab the newspaper from the table. Click on both doors. However, both doors are locked. Go up the stairs to the 1st floor. Also above are 2 doors, left and right. Click on both doors. These doors are also locked. Go back down and then, behind the stairs, click on the basement door to return to the basement. Talk to Jack again and now ask him about the Key. Jack tells that he saw that one of the guards lost a set of keys at the kitchen. So go back to the kitchen. The kitchen is therefore one large cast iron oven. Zoom in on it.

The oven stands on 3 legs and 6 floor tiles. Number the 6 floor tiles, from left to right, 1 to 6. Place your cursor on the bottom edge of the oven, above each of the 6 floor tiles. You then get the hand / eye cursor on a Slot. Jack has said that the guard dropped keys here. So probably those keys are under the oven, but Nicole cannot get under the oven with her hand. Left click in inventory on the Newspaper to roll up the newspaper. Then take the Tightly rolled newspaper from your inventory and then click with it, from left to right, on the bottom edge of the oven above each of the floor tiles 1 to 6.

Nicole then finds the key and a coin at one of the tiles. 

Then, without the newspaper, click on the spot where Nicole sees the key and the coin to take the Key and the Coin from under the oven.

NB: the place under the oven where Nicole finds the key and the coin is different each time. 

So you really have to click on all 6 tiles with the rolled up newspaper to find the key and the coin.

Zoom out of the oven when you found and took the key and coin. 

Go back to the hall and up the stairs to the 1st floor. Use the found key on the left door and then enter. Nicole is in the :

Library:

As soon as you step into the library, your game will be automatically saved, so you can expect that you have to act quickly. Nicole also tells you that she should lock the door again to avoid being surprised. So click on the open door to close it again and then click on the door again with the key to lock the doors again. Nicole now leaves the key in the door. Walk  one screen to the left to get to the center of the library room.

The fireplace is in the back wall. A painting hangs above the fireplace. There is a clock on the mantelpiece. Tall bookcases stand against the right wall. There is a small staircase in front of those right-hand bookcases. To the left are windows. You can click on the right window, but don't do that yet .......Right click on the painting that hangs on the wall above the fireplace. The painting shows a dancer and is depicted in the same pose as the 1st Paris victim, dancer Elizabeth Soupalt.

 Zoom in on the mantelpiece. On the mantelpiece is a picture, a clock, a small statue and a candle. Check out the picture. The photo shows Louis Carnot and his brother. In the photo, the brother is wearing a bracelet and it is just like the one Nicole found on Rue de Nouveau No. 5/13 in the drain. Grab the picture. Behind the photo appears to be a Square Stone (Square with ornament). According to Nicole, it is part of a mechanism. Grab the Square Stone. Grab the little statue too.

Zoom out of the mantelpiece and go to the right bookcases. Then zoom in on the middle bookcase with your magnifying glass.

You zoom in on 3 shelves in the middle part of the middle bookcase.

Click on the 4 books you see to remove all 4 from the shelf. Then click on the middle bookshelf to remove it as well

Then click on the back wall and .... you have opened a secret door.

You will now see a panel with the:

Slider puzzle:

Zoom in on the sliding puzzle. Well ..... you see 2 mosaics. The left mosaic is good, but the right mosaic is messed up.

You have to make the right mosaic just like the left mosaic and you do that by moving the blocks in the right screen. Click on the blocks to move them and solve this puzzle. Can't do this for you so you must do this all by yourself. You will of course be left with a hole in the right mosaic. So finally place the Square Stone, which you found on the mantelpiece, in the hole of the right mosaic.

When you have solved the sliding puzzle, the panel opens and you look into the Secret Room.

Secret room:

Go forward through the tunnel to the: Zoom in on the table, which is against the right wall.

There is a box on the table and in the box is the 2nd piece of the map. Grab the map piece from the box.

Combine this piece of the map in inventory with the piece that you assembled in chapter 1 in day 3. Then right-click on the 2 pieces of map to see them in the close-up screen. Then puzzle the 2 map pieces together in the close-up screen. Then quickly glue the 2 pieces together with the roll of adhesive tape, which you still have in your inventory.

At the top right you see another coastline. Close the close-up screen and zoom out of the table and exit the secret room.

Back in the library another TIMER starts running and Nicole says she hopes she won't be caught now that she has found the second part of the map. SAVE YOUR GAME HERE NOW. So you have to be quick to hide the map in a place where Nicole can pick it up later. You have 1 minute again

First, walk one screen to the left, so that Nicole is back in the middle of the room. In your inventory, combine the Map with the Statue. Then combine the adhesive tape with the statue / map to stick it. Then take the Statue / map from your inventory and click it on the right window, so on the window in the corner and .....

Nicole throws the statue with the map out the window and ....

The guards have noticed that an unauthorized person has crept into the palace and Nicole is caught by 2 guards with dogs.

 In the hall there is a "conversation" in which Nicole tries to get out of her predicament

But unfortunately ..... the guards have other plans. Nicole then runs outside, chased by the dogs. On her flight Nicole just manages to grab the Statue with the map. Just in time Nicole manages to reach the Rope and she climbs over the wall again ... at least ..... she gets some help from her partner Nick who suddenly shows up to save Nicole's "ass".

At the telephone booth there is a conversation between Nicole and Nick. Nicole tells Nick that she must now go to Havana, the capital of Cuba, to try to prevent the Puppeteer's next murder. Nick has a friend in Havana and he gives Nicole that friend's phone number. Nick will also report to the French police that Jack Dupree is imprisoned in the palace. Nick then disappears.

Nicole has lost her cell phone. Re-enter the phone booth and:

Nicole calls Nick's friend and asks if he wants to call back. That happens almost immediately. Nicole tells Nick's friend that she has to go to Havana today. 

The friend will arrange a flight that will depart from Marseille in 2 hours. 

After this phone call, go one screen to the right and then click with your magnifying glass on the motorcycle, which is still against the wall at the gate.

When Nicole is standing in front of the motorcycle, click with the motorcycle key on the motorcycle and ...

Day 6: April 20, 2008:

A: The clerk of the archive:

Find Cigars for the Clerk:

The friend delivered Nicole to the building that houses the local Archives. Click on the door. The archive is closed but Nicole reports that there is a note on the door. Zoom in on the note (Information sheet). The clerk of the archive says on the note that he is currently; in "La Catedral" is to drink coffee. Zoom out.

You can go 3 ways. You can go one screen to the left and you can go into the street on the right side of the archive, where a wrecked blue car is parked. At the bottom of the screen you can also go down a screen. At the bottom right is the rickshaw  that Nicole brought here. Go one screen to the left via the left edge of the screen. Nicole arrives at the rented house to the left of the archive. In the wall of this house you see a fountain (Tap). Go one more screen to the left and we then reach the corner of the street. Here is the hotel.

The hotel entrance is behind the fence, at the stop sign. Go one screen further to the left and .....

......... on the other side of the street you will see the yellow pub "La Catedral". Continue to the "La Catedral" bar.

The clerk of the archive is at the table, drinking coffee. On the left sits Citizen of Havana. Go talk to the clerk and ask him if he still plans to go back to work (Opening the archives). The clerk is waiting for a friend who has promised him a few cigars. Once the clerkeman has his cigars, he will go back to the archive. Nicole offers to go get those cigars for the clerk.

Talk to the Havana guy and ask the man about cigars. The man does not smoke and therefore has no cigars, but he would like to accompany Nicole on a tour through the city for a while. Nicole doesn't feel like it, so say goodbye. Nicole has to find cigars for the damned clerk or else she can wait until say dies of old age before the clerk opens the archive again. Go back one screen, at the bottom of the screen and .... oops .... Nicole is almost run over by a tractor whizzing past. The hotel is across the street. Go back to the hotel. There is a garbage can on the sidewalk and a blue Carrier bag on the sidewalk by the garbage can.

Grab the blue bag. A rubber glove hangs from the trash can. Grab the Rubber glove. Enter the hotel.

The hotel is a ruin and is therefore no longer in operation. Walk straight to the elevator. There is a metal can in the elevator.

Zoom into the elevator with your magnifying glass and then grab the metal Can. In inventory you then click twice on the can. Tobacco leaves come out of the can and 5 ready-made Cigars. Well ... zoom out and make sure you end up with the clerk again, on the terrace of the yellow "La Catedral" bar. Talk to the clerk again and tell him you found cigars (loot). Nicole will then automatically give the cigars to the clerk. However, the clerk has no lighter / matches, so he cannot light a cigar and as long as the clerk has not smoked a cigar, he has no intention of lifting his lazy ass off the chair.

So Nicole has to look for a lighter. Now go all the way back to the archive screen, so the bottom of the screen and then 2 times to the right. Back at the archive, take the street to the right of the archive. On the corner is a blue car wreck with the hood up. Zoom in on the hood and Nicole looks under the hood and sees a ..... Lighter on the cooling water tank. Grab the Lighter. 

Zoom out and go back to the "La Catedral" bar and talk to the clerk again and tell him you found a lighter. However, the lighter is empty, so it is of no use to the clerk. Behind the clerk is a lamppost and behind the lamppost you will see a small folding table. There are some cans on that table.

Go to the small folding table. The cans on the table are gas containers. Take the lighter from your inventory and click it on the red gas container (Lighter loader) to fill the lighter with gas. Zoom out and talk to the clerk again and use the Have a nice smoke topic. The clerk is now going to smoke his cigar and then he'll go back to the archive. Nicole is then at the door of the archive, which is now open.

Get rid of the annoying guy:

So now enter the archive building. That Havana guy, who was also sitting on the terrace of "La Caterdal", followed Nicole and stopped in the doorway to play eavesdroppers. Continue to the clerk, who is behind the desk. There's an elastic on the counter. If you try to get that elastic, the clerk will tell you that you can't have it. There is also a radio on the counter. The radio is connected to 2 batteries with a wire. A clothespin is attached to the antenna of the radio.  Talk to the clerk and use whatever options you get. 

Nicole asks the clerk for the details of one Edouard Montoute, the prospective victim of the Puppeteer. The clerk says he does not know who this Edouard is. But the clerk saw that eavesdropping guy standing in the doorway and he doesn't trust him. Nicole also asks the clerk about the radio. The clerk doesn't want Nicole to touch the radio because he's tuned the radio to his favorite show.

Zoom out of the counter and try to go out again, but that annoying guy is standing in the doorway. Talk to the Citizen or Havana and he disappears outside. But that guy will keep following Nicole now, so Nicole has to get rid of him. To the right of the doorway is a fuse box on the wall. There are 2 fuses in the Fuse box.

Click on the fuse box to take out 1 of the 2 plugs. This will turn off the power at the counter and the clerk will disappear. Quickly zoom in on the counter again and then grab the Elastc band and also the Batteries of the radio. A clothespeg is attached to the antenna of the radio. Grab the Clothes peg. Zoom out and now leave the Archive again. Outside again, go 2 screens to the left, to the entrance of the hotel. Enter the hotel again. In the middle left is a thick pillar. Place your cursor in front of that pillar (Behind the pillar) and then click to go behind that pillar.

In the back of the pillar is a large electrical box. There are 2 Bricks on the floor.

Nicole is now not interested in those 2 bricks. There are no fuses in the electrical box, but there is a black switch.

The electrical box has 8 fuse holders. Number those fuse holders, from top left to bottom right, 1 to 8.

Take the Fuse, which you stole from the archive, from your inventory and then place the it in holder 7.

Then click on the black switch and ... the doors of the elevator will close.

The elevator now has power again. Take a step back, through the bottom of the screen and ...... you see that the guy peeks in through the entrance. So that annoying guy has followed Nicole. Click on the electrical box again and click on the black switch again to open the elevator doors. Nicole wants to lock that nasty guy in the elevator. Now grab the 2 Bricks from the ground behind Nicole. Go to the elevator and zoom in on it.

Place the 2 Bricks in the elevator on the floor.

Place the metal can (containing the cigars) on the 2 bricks.

Then place the Batteries in the can.

Combine the Elastic band) with the Lighter in inventory. The lighter is then on.

Then click with the Lighter on the metal Can and .....

The batteries in the can explode and the guy runs into the elevator. 

Nicole quickly uses the switch to close the elevator doors. The guy is now trapped in the elevator.

Exit the hotel and go back to the Archives. Go back in and talk to the clerk again. Now that the eavedropper guy is gone, the clerk wants to talk. So use all conversation options. 

The clerk now talks about that Edouard Montoute. Coincidentally, the clerk has already looked up the data of that Montoute because Louis Carnot also asked about it yesterday. The clerk tells where the estate of the Montoute family is and how Nicole can get there. Nicole can borrow the car from the clerk, but she will have to repair the car herself first. Nicole gets the car keys from the clerk. The clerk's car is parked in front of the "La Catedral" bar.

Repair the clerk's car:

Exit the archive and go all the way back to the screen where you see the street with the "La Catedral" bar. Do not go to the terrace of the bar. A car is parked to the left around the corner of the bar. So go one more screen to the left, via the bottom left of the screen and Nicole is then at the car of the clerk.

Click on the car with your magnifying glass. Nicole gets into the car. Take the car keys from your inventory and put them in the ignition lock, to the right under the odometer.

Then click twice on the keys to start the car but ... the car will not start because the battery is probably empty.

Get out of the car (Return) and then click with your magnifying glass on the hood of the car. You can see the radiator under the hood. In the middle of the radiator is the Plug hole, but the cap has disappeared. The battery is on the right. Click on the plug hole of the radiator and also on the battery (Accumulator). There is no cooling water in the radiator. The battery is also empty.

Zoom out and go back 2 screens to the right. You are then back on the screen with the large blue rental apartments (Tenement house) building.

Go to the rental apartment building. The building has an arched gallery. To the left of the door there is a fountain (Tap) on the wall.

Zoom in on the fountain. In your inventory, combine the blue bag with the clothespin to close the bag with the peg. 

Then take the bag from your inventory and click it on the tap of the fountain to hang the bag on the tap. 

Then click on the tap to open the tap and fill the bag with water.

Take back the now filled bag. Zoom out and go one screen to the right again. You are then back at the archive.

 Go back to the blue car wreck, which is on the right around the corner of the archive building.

 Zoom in again on the raised hood of the blue car. You then look at the engine again.

Take the Cap (Plug) out of the radiator. Try to get the blue battery but .... the battery is too heavy. 

Zoom out and walk back one screen to the left, to the front of the archive building. 

So there is a Rickshaw at the bottom right of your screen. Click on the rickshaw and ..... Nicole cycles the rickshaw to the blue car.

Zoom in again under the hood of the blue car and click on the blue battery again and ... Now Nicole lifts the battery out of the car and into the rickshaw. Nicole uses the rickshaw to take the battery to the clerk's car. Open the hood of the clerk's car again. Take the blue bag with water from your inventory and empty the bag in the radiator through the filling hole. Then place the cap on the filling hole but .... the cap is too big for the filling hole. So you have to make the filling hole smaller. Take the rubber glove from your inventory and click it on the filling hole to completely cover the hole with the glove. Then click the cap on the glove and now the cap will fit.

Zoom out and get back in the car. Nicole takes place behind the wheel again. However, click on the right edge of the screen to look to the right.

You will then see the glove compartment near the passenger seat.  Open the glove compartment and take out the Wrench and a nut.

Get out of the car and look under the hood again. Use the wrench on the battery to unscrew and remove it. Zoom out again.

The blue battery is on the back of the rickshaw.

Take the blue battery from the rickshaw and Nicole will automatically put this battery under the hood.

Zoom out again and take a seat in the car, behind the wheel. Put the car keys back in the ignition and then click twice on the keys again and .....

Nicole leaves Havana in the clerk's car and travels to the Montoute family estate, breaking almost all Cuban traffic rules.

Day 7: April 21, 2008:

Montoute estate:

A: Manuel and Ines:

Nicole has parked the car at the gate of the estate. A screen to the right is the village but Nicole does not want to go there yet. Walk through the gate. Nicole ends up at the ruins of the former mansion. Continue to the ruin. Nicole is then in the courtyard. In the back you can zoom in both left and right (Close-up).

Zoom in on the close-up at the back left. Nicole then walks on and looks at a grinding machine (Grindstone).

Zoom in on the sharpening machine and then click on the round sharpening stone. Nicole informs you that the grinder would work if the drive belt were still present.The drive belt of the grinder is therefore gone.  Zoom out twice and then zoom in on the vegetation at the back right. A piece of green fruit (Soursop) hangs in the tangle of branches.

If you try to get the Soursop, Nicole reports that the thing is hanging too high. Click on the ground right below the Soursop. Nicole reports that if she wants to take the Soursop, she has to put a box or something on the floor here, where she can then stand on. Zoom out. You see a door in the right facade. Go to the right to the door. Open the door and then enter.

Nicole ends up in what was once a beautiful large room. In the wall is a Secret compartment. A lemon plant (Lemon balm) grows up from the floor. Try if Nicole wants to get the Lemon plant. Nicole is not interested in it at the moment. Zoom in on the Secret compartment. The compartment is still partly covered by a stone (Cracked stone). Click on the stone to remove the stone. The secret compartment is then completely open, but it is also empty. Zoom out and go back to the courtyard, via the bottom left, and then back to the car via 3 times the bottom of the screen. Back at the car a new person has turned up. It's Manuel with his scooter cart.

Go to Manuel and talk to him using all options. Manuel's scooter is broken. Manuel needs a nut (Cap) for his cart and Nicole automatically gives the nut, which you found in the glove compartment of the car, to Manuel. Manuel goes on to say that the old Madame Budoe can tell Nicole more about the Montoute family. When you have asked Manuel everything, go one screen to the right and Nicole ends up in the village. At the end of the street is a church and through the church you can go to the house of the old Madame Budoe (Shaman's house). There is a stick against the low house, on the left, and a tractor to the right of Nicole.

Nicole does not want to take the Stick just yet. Continue to the Shaman's House. The Shaman's house is the home of Madame Budoe, the local herbalist.

Walk up the stairs and then talk to Ines, Madame Budoe's "secretary".

Talk to Ines and use all conversation options. Nicole wants to talk to Madame Budoe but Ines is here to make sure that no one goes in just like that. Nicole is not the only one who wants to talk to Madame Budoe and Ines says that Nicole should just join the waiting queue in the back. Nicole insists and Ines puts Nicole's name on the waiting list. To the right behind Ines is a fan and Ines says that the fan is broken. Because the fan is broken Ines has got it quite hot.

Repair the Fan:

When you have discussed everything with Ines, you zoom in on the fan. Click on the switch. However, as Ines has said, the fan does not work. Return the switch to the off position. Open the fan cover. Nicole says the fan motor looks fine but she may need to clean the brushes.

In the opened box, find the Fan brushes and then click on it to remove the brushes from the fan. Right-click on the Brushes of the fan in inventory to view them in the close-up screen. The brushes are completely worn out. Close the close-up screen and zoom out the fan. Talk to Ines again and use the "Repair" topic. Nicole tells Ines that she can fix the fan. In front of Ines there is a Pillow on the top step of the stairs. Take the Pillow.  Go back to the village street via the bottom of the screen twice. Manuel has now repaired his cart and is tinkering with a machine in the street on the sidewalk in front of his house. Talk to Manuel and use the "Engine" topic and then the "Brushes" topic.

Manuel is tinkering with a machine and brushes have also come out of that machine. Nicole then receives the Engine brushes that Manuel has demolishing from his machine. Go back to Ines and zoom in on the fan again. Take the Engine brushes from your inventory and click them in the fan. Unfortunately ..... the brushes are too wide. Go back to Manuel and ask him if he also has smaller brushes and ask him about the Stick. Manuel does not have narrower brushes and Nicole may not take the stick

Now go back to the courtyard of the ruined mansion. Zoom in again on the back left spot where the Grinder is located. Zoom in completely on the grinding machine. To the left of the table is a wheel that should have a drive belt. That drive wheel is, however, pleading. Click on that wheel so Nicole says the grinder needs a drive belt. Then zoom out again and go back to Manuel in the village street.

Ask Manuel now for a drive belt (Wedge belt). Manuel is too busy and hasn't even had time to drink anything. Manuel would like to drink a glass of Soursop juice, so Nicole has to give Manuel a glass of Soursop juice in exchange for a drive belt. Ask Manuel again if you can borrow the Stick. Because Nicole says she needs the stick to be able to take the Soursop fruit, she can now take the stick and Nicole does that automatically. So go back to the courtyard of the mansion and zoom in again on the right back spot. Place the Pillow on the ground, right under the Soursop fruit. Then click with the stick on the Soursop fruit and the fruit will land on the pillow.

Take the Soursop fruit. Nicole has put the stick against the 2 right pillars. Manuel wants his stick back, so take it back. Go back to Manuel and talk to him again using the "Fruit" topic. Manuel wants you to put the stick back, so use the "Giving back the stick" topic and Nicole puts the stick back against the wall. Ask Manuel again for a drive belt (Wedge belt) and Nicole can take the drive belt and keep it.

Nicole does not automatically grab the drive belt now. The drive belt hangs from the grille in front of the left window. So take the Drive Belt. 

Go back to the grinder in the mansion courtyard. Zoom in completely on the grinding machine again. Then place the Drive Belt on the left side of the table.

Then click on the sharpening stone and see .... the sharpening stone will now turn. Wait a while until the sharpening stone has stopped. Then click with the Engine brushes on the sharpening stone to place these brushes on the table in front of the sharpening stone. Then click on the sharpening stone again and the stone will sharpen the brushes a bit narrower, Nicole takes the brushes back herself. Now go all the way back to Ines, on the porch of the Shaman's house.

Zoom in on the fan again and then place the grounded engine brushes in the fan. The brushes now fit. Click on the switch and ..... bingo .... the Fan does it again. Talk to Ines again and tell her that you have repaired the fan. You can now enter the house to chat with Madame Budoe. So you have to walk over the veranda to the right, via the right arrow to the right behind the fan. So walk one screen to the right and Nicole will enter at:

C: Madame Bodou: 

Talk to Madame Bodou and use all options. You talk to Madame Bodou about Louis Carnot and about the Bougainville family and about the map. Nicole must buy the map of the Bougainvilles by making offerings to Lazarus. The sacrifices Nicole must make to Lazarus are Salvia, Toronjil and Thymus

Sage, Thyme and Lemon:

You can't do anything else here, so go back one screen to the left, to Ines. Talk to Ines again and ask her about the offerings (Strange words). Ines explains that Salvia, Toronjil and Thymus are herbs. Toronjil is a Lemon plant, Thymus is Thyme and Salvia is Sage. Nicole has to look for these herbs and then offer them to Lazarus.  Go back to the gate in the wall of the mansion. In front of the wall pillar, to the right of the gate, is a bunch of sage.

Zoom in on the pillar and then pick the Sage bush from the ground.

Zoom out and go through the gate. The fountain pond is located in front of the manor.

Zoom in on the bush on the right side of the fountain pond (Vegetation) and then grab a handful of Thyme leaves.

Zoom out and go to the courtyard of the mansion. Go right again through the door to the room where the secret compartment is in the wall. Then take the Lemon plant now. When you now have the 3 herbs, Sage, Thyme leaves and the Lemon plant, you go back to Madame Bodou in her Shaman house, to the right of Ines. Talk to Madame Bodou again about the collected herbs (Herbs collection). Madame tells you to grind the Thyme leaves and then burn them.

Make an offering to Lazarus;

At the bottom left is Madame Bodou's large round work table. There is a Mortar on the table.

Take the Thyme from your inventory and then place the Thyme in the Mortar. The thyme needs to be burnt but Nicole has no lighter or matches.

Go back outside and talk to Ines again and ask her for matches and Ines will give you matches. 

Go back inside and click on the Mortar with the matches to burn the Thyme leaves. Talk to Madame Bodou again and ask her for help and then about Montoute and ....

Madame Bodou gives Nicole the 3rd part of the map but ..... Nicole is knocked down and the attacker steals the map. Madame Bodou is murdered by the Puppeteer.

Madame Bodou's corpse is hanging next to the cupboard. In front of the corpse is the inevitable doll on the floor. Use a plastic evidence bag on the doll to pick it up.

You will see a short video. View the doll in the close-up screen. This doll symbolizes an ancestor of Montou. Leave the room. Ines has also disappeared. Go to the village street and see that Manuel has also disappeared. Everyone has disappeared. Continue to the gate of the mansion and get back into your car. It's time to go back to finaly deal with the Puppeteer. Put the car keys back in the ignition and then click on the keys again and ... after another long car ride and flight we end up in:

Chapter 5: France:

Day 8: April 22, 2008:

A: Marseille:

We are back on the coast road at the gate of Jack Dupree's ancestral palace, now inhabited by Louis Carnot. Nicole has parked the motorcycle to the right of the gate again. Go to the gate and zoom in on it. Click on the gate doors in the gate and .... the gate doors will now open. So go through the gate and walk to the front doors of the palace and Nicole ends up in the hall. There is no one to be seen ... the palace appears to be completely deserted. Go to the basement through the door to the right behind the stairs. Jack has also disappeared but to the right of the machine, to which Jack was tied, is a note on the floor.

Take the note and then left click on it in your inventory to read the note. It's a note from Jack. Jack has been taken to Montmartre Cemetery, Paris, and he hopes Nicole will come and rescue him. Ok .... go back out and to the bike. Zoom in on the motorcycle again and then click on it with the motorcycle key and .... Nicole ride back on the motorcycle to:

B: Paris:

Montmartre Cemetery:

Nicole has arrived at the main entrance of the Montmartre Cemetery. Walk into the cemetery.

It is in fact a street with houses on either side that serve as tombs. At one of the houses on the right, there are 2 garbage bins (Baskets).

Zoom in on the garbage bins. There is an Oil bottle on the floor in front of the garbage bins.

Click on the Bottle of Oil but Nicole does not need the oil bottle yet, but you now know where to find a Bottle of Oil if you need it later.

Zoom out again. At the end of the street you can turn left or right. Go right.

On the next screen you will see a Garden hose (Rubber hose) on the sidewalk. Nicole does not want to take this garden hose either.

Go through the gate at the back of the street and Nicole end up on a kind of square with burial houses. 

You see Louis Carnot with his 2 gangsters who keep Jack Dupree under control.

Click with the arrow cursor on the 4 men and ..... Nicole then plays eavesdropping and overhears the conversation.

You hear Jack tell that a dagger is needed to find the entrance to the catacombs. Jack has hidden that dagger behind a painting in his apartment. Jack also tells that he has hidden the key in a box and that box is between the windows in Jack's apartment. Carnot then sends one of his henchmen away to go to Jack's apartment. Nicole has to follow that henchman, so go back to the left, via the bottom left and ...

Nicole follows the gangster, who leaves the cemetery and drives away in his car. Nicole follows the gangster on the motorcycle to the Rue de Nouveau 3/15:

Jack's Apartment:

Enter the house where Jack's apartment is. Nicole lands back on the floor where Agnes Grouchet's apartment is.

Go up the right stairs to the attic floor. You will then see that gangster try to force the door of Jack's apartment.

Go back down and knock on Agnes Grouchet's door and tell Agnes Grouchet that Jack's apartment is being broken into (Break-in) ...

Agnes Grouchet calls the police and the gangster is arrested.

Nicole is then out on the street again. Well .... go back into the house and up to the attic. Jack's door is now ajar, so go inside. Behind the sofa and the glass table is a stone wall. A framed "Moulin Rouge" poster (Painting) hangs on the stone wall. Zoom in on the "Moulin Rouge" poster. Click on the poster to flip the poster. 

At the back of the poster you will find the Dagger (Misericorde), which Jack was talking about tile Carnot. 

Take the Dagger and turn the poster over. Zoom out.

Zoom in again on the coat hooks, on the paneling between the 2 skylights. Click on the panel again, under the hooks to open the secret compartment again. Oh well ...... You already removed Jack's chest from this secret compartment in Chapter 2. Jack's chest is still in Nicole's room in the hotel. Zoom out again and leave Jack's room and the house. Back outside, click on the motorcycle with the motorcycle key and ..... Nicole drives back to the Cemetery.

NB: Nicole may say she doesn't want to drive away yet. Don't take any notice of this and keep clicking with the key on the motorcycle.

Montmartre Cemetery:

NB: Look in your inventory and you will see that Nicole first went to the hotel to pick up Jack's chest. You should now have Jack's chest in your inventory again, but if you had not opened the secret compartment under the coat rack in Jack's apartment, Nicole has not gone to collect the chest from her hotel room. So  if  Nicole doesn't have the chest now, then you first have to go back to Jack's apartment to open that secret compartment.

Enter the cemetery again and walk all the way to the "square" where you previously overheard Jack and Carnot. 

Nicole now walks on to Louis Carnot and Jack and the one remaining henchman, who still has Jack in a hold. Use all conversation options.

Nicole tells Carnot that his accomplice has been arrested and that she is in possession of the dagger. In exchange for her freedom and that of Jack, Nicole will search for the entrance to the catacombs. Carnot agrees and gives Nicole his piece of the map. View the piece of the map in the close-up screen. Right-click on the map piece to turn it around. In one of the corners you see that Skull is drawn on the map. Close the close-up screen On the right is a larger mausoleum house (Chapel). Go to the right mausoleum house. On the door of the mausoleum is a round sign. Zoom in on that round door sign and see that the same skull is depicted on the sign as the one on the map piece.

Click on the board and Nicole tells you that it is the same skull as on the map. Zoom out and then click on the door handle of the door. The door is locked. The door is between 2 round pillars. You will see a hole at the bottom of each of the 2 pillars. Step back and then go back one screen via the bottom right, you are then back on the screen where the garden hose is. Go down another screen and Nicole will be at the end of the street, on the first screen of the cemetery.

Now go one screen to the left to get to the left part of the cemetery. 

In front of Nicole there is a wheelbarrow full of leaves and in front of the mausoleum on the right is a bust on a pillar. 

Go to that bust mausoleum (Tombstone). The bust is in a bed that is enclosed with a fence.

There is a loose iron bar against the fence. Grab the Iron Bar. On the right is an old Rag on the ground, but Nicole does not want to take that old rag yet. Go all the way back to the "square" and zoom in again on the Skull door mausoleum. Zoom in on the bottom of the left or right door pillar. It doesn't matter whether you take the left pillar or the right pillar first. Then place the Iron Bar in the hole at the bottom of the pillar. Then click on the bar and .... The bar will not turn. The rod is stuck in the hole and must be lubricated. Well .... where have you seen a Bottle of Oil?

So go back to the first beginning of the cemetery street and zoom in again on the 2 garbage cans.

Now grab the Bottle of Oil and return like smeared lightning to the Skull Door Mausoleum. 

Zoom in again on the bottom of the pillar where you inserted the rod in the hole.

Then click with the Bottle of Oil on the hole, so not on the rod, but on the hole where the rod is inserted.

Store the bottle again and then click on the rod again and ....If this was the right pillar the pillar turns around to the right.  In the left pillar the rod turns one turn to the left. Take the rod back out of the pillar, zoom out and then zoom in on the bottom of the other pillar. Then put the rod back into the hole of the 2nd pillar and empty the bottle of oil into the hole. Then click on the rod again and the 2nd pillar also turns around. Zoom out and click the door handle and ... now the door will open. So step inside. Nicole is standing in the chapel and in front of an "altar". On the altar you can see the skull and on the top edge is a round Plate (Lock).

Take the dagger (Misericorde) from your inventory and click the dagger in the round plate.

Then click on the upward pointing blade of the dagger to turn the dagger. Nicole fears she will cut herself. Nicole needs something to protect her hand. Hey ..... wasn't there an old rag near the enclosed bust? Click twice in the middle bottom of the screen and then right bottom, middle bottom and Nicole is back at the end of the first street. Go to the left again and zoom in again on the bust, at the wheelbarrow and then grab the Old Rag

Back to the altar in the skull door chapel. Click the Old Rag on the Dagger to wrap the sharp blade of the dagger with the rag.

Then click on the blade of the dagger again and ... the dagger turns a turn to the left and this causes the skull wall of the altar to slide open. You have found the entrance to the Catacombs. Grab the dagger back and step back outside and then back to Jack and the 2 gangsters through the bottom center. Talk to Louis Carnot again and tell him you opened the entrance to the catacombs. Carnot doesn't know his way around the catacombs and so he wants Nicole to mark the correct route on the map, which she now gets back from Carnot.

D: Find the correct route through the Catacombs:

Carnot has returned her part of the map to Nicole. Combine the two map parts in inventory. Then right-click on the map and puzzle the 2 parts together into 1 whole and then quickly click on it again with your roll of adhesive tape. Close the screen.

Nicole now has to find and mark the correct route on the map. Left click on Jack's box in inventory to open the box. Then combine the Dagger with the opened chest. Nicole cuts a slit in the inside of the lid and a large Key comes out (Key from the jewelry box).

Right-click on the map again to view it in the close-up screen.

Take the newly found Key from inventory and click the key on the map.

In the middle of the map you see a red Rosette and that rosette has exactly the same shape as the rosette that forms the back of the key.

Pick up the key and place the key on the red rosette, with the rosette of the key on the red rosette.

Now you have to turn the key and you do that by right-clicking on the Rosette, or on the tip of the key.

So right click on the top of the key to turn the key one turn to the left. Keep doing this until the key is pointing straight up to "12 o'clock".

Nicole herself has found the first part of the route through the catacombs and this route is then automatically marked by a red line. Left click on the rosette to set the route. Continue to right-click on the rosette of the key until the key points to the left (9 o'clock).

The route is then further marked in red, but Nicole then says that from now on the key is no longer enough to find the rest of the route. You can no longer click on the key.

Click with the dagger on the key to get the key from the card.

The dagger is then at the top of the map. The center of the dagger is the same rosette as the red rosette on the card.

Right click on the rosette of the dagger until the dagger is pointing diagonally to the left.

Then pick up the dagger and place the dagger on the red rosette, so with the rosette of the dagger on the red rosette.

The blade of the dagger then points to between "11 am and 12 pm". and Nicole reports that the dagger is in the right place.

There is a small button in the handle of the dagger.

Take the key from your inventory again and click the key on the map. The Key will then be placed on the dagger.

Pick up the key and drag the key with the rosette to the button in the handle of the dagger.

Click the key with the rosette on the button.

Then right click again on the rosette of the key until the top of the key points to between "8 o'clock and 9 o'clock". The next part of the route is then marked in red.

Left click on the top of the key to record the route. Then right click on the top of the key again until the top of the key points to about "7 o'clock" and ... the whole route is then found and marked and .......

you automatically return to the gangsters and a conversation follows.

Nicole accuses Louis of being the Puppeteer killer but Louis denies this in all keys. Louis then takes Jack into the catacombs and leaves Nicole with his accomplice. 

Nicole then puts into practice what she learned at Quantanimo at the FBI academy and floor the gangster.

Go back into the Skull door chapel and now through the entrance to the:

E: Catacombs.

Nicole is on a shaky path that hangs on the wall. On the left, a somewhat broken staircase continues down. Click on the left stairs (Worn-out stairs). Nicole runs to the stairs but she does not dare to go further down the damaged and slippery stairs. Click on the top stairs to go back out of the catacombs and exit the skull door chapel. Go back one screen at the bottom right and now take the Garden Hose, which is on the left side of the sidewalk.

Go back to the catacombs, so there are a bunch of semicircular niches in the wall above and below the rickety path. Above the path there are 2 rows of niches and above the middle of the niches a Metal Hook protrudes (Old metal hook). Tie the Garden Hose to the Metal Hook and then click with the down arrow on the garden hose and ....

Nicole lands at the bottom of the catacombs. To the right behind is a Plank in the corner. Take  the Plank. In the middle is a staircase to go further down.

Diagonally to the left of that staircase is a rope on the ground. Grab the Rope.

Go further down the stairs in the ground. Nicole is then at the underground channel. There is a ledge on the wall but the start of the ledge has disappeared, under the 2nd bricked-up arch niche. If you try to place the plank under the 2nd arch niche, Nicole will tell you that it is too far away. There is a pillar on the wall between the 1st and 2nd arch. An iron bar protrudes from the pillar (A good place to secure the rope).

Click the Rope on the rod that sticks to the pillar. The other end of the rope is then on the ground. Click the Plank on the end of the rope that is on the ground. Nicole has then made a "bridge". Click on the shelf and .... Nicole then pushes the shelf to the ledge and now she can continue over the ledge to the right.

So go one screen to the right. You will then see Nicole standing on the ledge. 

Continue through the bottom right and then continue to the wall with niches, right, and ...

........The end scenes of the game starts....

Nicole sneaks into a cave and meets Louis Carnot and Jack. Carnot is trying to open a door. Carnot Nicole storms towards Carnot but he presses his gun to Jack's head and threatens to shoot him. A conversation ensues in which Nicole accuses Louis of being the Puppeteer. Carnot denies this and then threatens to kill Jack

Then suddenly the Puppeteer killer shows up and ...... it is the brother of Louis Carnot. A conversation follows in which the motives of the Puppeteer now become clear. 200 years is a long time to wait to get revenge. Well .... eventually the Puppeteer shoots his brother Louis and Nicole then knows how to shoot the Puppeteer.

Things then start to collapse but Nicole and Jack manage to escape from the catacombs just in time.

Outside again they are met by Inspector Pety who takes them to the station for the debriefing.
