Chapter 9: Underground Railway
Turn around. You look through a short tunnel and see a rail cart. You are at the Underground Railway. Do not go to the rail cart yet, but turn around to the right wall.
On the wall you see, at the bottom left of the lamp, a drawing of 2 squares. Copy it.
Then go to the rail cart and get in it. In the rail cart you turn left. You are standing in front of the window of the rail cart. There is a green button on the left and right.
Click on the left green button. The window closes and a panel with 2 white squares and 3 buttons appears.
With the 2 outer orange buttons you can reset the puzzle if you go wrong. The 2 white squares are each divided into 4 smaller squares. If you click in the squares they will turn black and white again. If you click on the red button, zeros will appear in the squares. On the wall, near the ladder, you saw 2 squares. In the left square the bottom right part was black and in the right square the 2 top parts were black. Open your Libray column map and then page 3 of Book 8. On page 3 of Book 8 you see, at the top left, both squares that you saw on the wall.
The numbers below the squares tell you how often you have to click on each of the 4 squares. The intention is that those numbers will also be placed in the 8 squares on the panel. Close the book. Number the 4 squares in the two white squares, from top left to bottom right A, B, C, D. Then, according to the instructions from Book 8 page 3, click on the squares, so:
Left square: 2 times on A, 4 times on B, 8 times on C, 1 time on D. Right square: 7 times on A, 3 times on B, 6 times on C.
The 2 squares then look like you saw on the wall
Then click on the Red Button, between the squares, and ... in the squares now briefly appear the numbers that are underneath the squares in Book 8.
Click on Left Green Button to make the panel disappear and then click on Right Green Button and ..
... the rail cart will now drive through the tunnel and stops at:
A: The Elevator:
When the rail cart has stopped, turn left and get out of the rail cart.
There is a lever at the bottom right of your screen. Click on the lever and ..... at the back of the hallway a round elevator will come down.
Click on the lever again to raise the elevator again. Now walk to the gray hatch at the back wall of the hallway. Open the hatch. You will then see the buttons with which you can turn the round elevator. You will see a large circle with a small circle below it. Above the large circle is a little red button. On the right is a bigger red button. The large circle has an outer ring and an inner ring. In the small circle you see 2 blue segments and a gray segment. The little red button affects the small circle and the big red button turns the outer ring of the large circle, so the big circle is the round elevator.
Press and hold the big red button until the opening iin the outer ring below the little red button.
Close the hatch. Turn around and walk back to the rail cart and then turn around again. Click on the elevator lever again to lower the round lift again. Then go into the elevator and press the red button under the round window in the elevator. You go up with the elevator. When the elevator has stopped, you will see a red button in the round window. Click on the red button in the round window and ....... you will hear the sound of something turning around. Turn left and you will see a pull ring.
The pull ring is not yet active, so you cannot pull the ring down. Turn left and see .... the elevator door is closed. Turn back to the round window and click on the red elevator button again, under the window, and you will drop back down. Turn around and get out of the elevator and go back to the elevator lever. Click on the lever again to raise the lift again. Go back to the hatch on the wall. Open the hatch again and see ..... the bottom circle has now also been turned so that you could walk out from the elevator, if it is at the top. Click on the big red button again and keep the button pressed until the opening in the outer ring of the lift is down again.
Close the hatch, go back to the elevator lever and lower the elevator again with the lever. Get back in the elevator and go up again.
When the elevator upstairs has stopped again, turn around and see ... the elevator door is now open and you can exit the elevator.
Go forward 3 clicks and you are outside in front of the rocks. Turn left. You see a green power box and a flat brown box Turn around and you see a pole with 2 boxes next to a power pole. First, go to the green power box. You will see the power symbol on the power box. It's a zigzag arrow with the arrowhead pointing down. Copy it.
Turn left so that you are in front of the narrow brown box. Open the gray hatch of the box and you will see that a number of 2 digits must be entered.
Turn left and now go to the pole with the 2 boards. On the top board you will see a pull ring image with a down arrow. There is a gray box on the bottom board. Open the gray box and then click on the orange button.The red light above the button turns green and .........you have activated the pull ring in the elevator.
So now go back to the elevator and step back into the thing. Turn left and now click on the pull ring and .... the elevator turns around. The elevator door is now closed again. Click on the red elevator button to go down the elevator again. When the elevator has stopped, turn around and see ...... the exit of the elevator is now in front of the hatch in the wall. Open the hatch again. Click on the big button again and keep the button pressed again until the entrance in the outer ring is again under the little red button.
Turn around again and click on the red elevator button again to go up again. Then turn around again and ...
.......in the exit of the elevator is the red button that you previously clicked on and you see
B: The Radio Building:
Three gigantic loudspeakers rotate on the roof of the building. Follow the path to the door of the building. As you go over the path you will notice that there are 5 Switch boxes along the path. Each of those boxes is connected to a set of speakers mounted on a pole. When you open the boxes you will see a yellow switch and a button. The first Switch box you come across from the elevator is Switch E.
There are 5 Switch boxes along the path. Name those Switch Boxes A, B, C, D, E. In each switch box you can click the yellow switch from left to right and from right to left. However, none of the 5 boxes is currently activated. As you follew the path to the entrance door of the building go to each of the 5 switch boxes, open each box and make sure that each of the 5 switches are now pointing to the left. If a switch is to the right then click the switch to the left. Click in every switch box then on the button and you will here low Frequency tones. If you click a switch to the right then you hear High frequency tones. For now....make sure that all 5 yellow switches are pointing left
From Switch E follow the path to Switch D
At Switch D is a sign board on with an DodecaŽder / Pentagram drawn on it. Make sure Switch D points to the left. Then follow the path further to the switch boxes B and C
Also at Switch boxes B anc C is a sign with a DodecaŽder / Pentagram drawn on it. Make sure that Switches B and C points to the left. The path ends, past Switch C, in a cave at a locked gray door of witch you need a star key to unlocked it. But the cave also has a little office room, but we go look there in a minute. From box C go to the front side of the building and you will see Switch Box A and a power box
On the power box on which you w see the power symbol, the zigzag arrow. Make sure that Switch A points to the left. The go to the entrance door of the building.
There's a box in front of the door If you open the box at the front door, you will see that there is no power. You need to put a key in this box
To the right of the front door are 2 red buttons. The top red button is connected to the brown power box in front of the door. The bottom red button is the door button, but the door will not open. Apparently there is no power. Ok ... if you have looked at everything around the radio building then go to the cave, behind the building. The door in the tunnel needs a star key to open.
Turn right and enter the room. This is it:
You are standing in front of a low table. Look down. There are 2 drawers in the cupboard. Open the left drawer. There is a red pencil and a notebook in the drawer. Take the notebook from the drawer and brows it through. On each page you see the Power symbol 3 times and there is always a number at each symbol. There is always a different symbol above the power symbol. Scroll through the pages and look for the power symbol you saw on both blue power boxes. So you're looking for the zigzag arrow with the down arrow.
Write down the number next to this power symbol. It's the number 72. So the zigzag arrow equals 72. Also look at the arrows with the numbers 70 and 71. Also copy these 2 arrows and write down the numbers 70 and 71. Put the book back in the drawer, close the drawer and look up again. Turn right. There is an oil lamp on the shelf and a map of this area on the wall. A saw hangs on the right. Click on the map and you will see that the cable, that connects all 5 Switch boxes and speaker poles, is broken at the box at the bottom right.
Zoom out. The floor plan is now placed on the shelf. Now click on the painting on which the map was glued.
The painting slides away and you see Key D in the niche. Take Key D.
Turn right and exit the office and follow the path back to the elevator. Get back into the elevator and go down again. When the elevator has brought you down again, turn around again. Open the wall hatch again and press the big red button again until the exit in the outer ring is down again.
Then go up again with the elevator and when the elevator is back up, turn left and click on the pull ring again to turn the elevator around again. Turn left and exit the elevator again and walk outside. Turn left and go back to the narrow brown box with the gray hatch. Open the gray hatch and then click on the 2 buttons until you have the number 72 in the display.
Go back to the elevator, re-enter the elevator, pull the pull ring again to rotate the elevator, then descend the elevator.
Open the wall hatch again and put the entrance in the outer ring up again, so under the little red button.
Take the elevator back up and get out of the elevator. You are back at the Radio Building.
Follow the path back to the front door of the building and while you do that go to each of the 5 switch boxes, which are along the path. Open each box again and make sure that the switch in each box is set to the left. Back at the front door, open the hatch box in front of the front door. You can now read in the box that the power is 100%. Take Key D, that you have taken from behind the painting in the litte office, from your inventory en place Key D in the box.
Turn left to the front door. To the left of the front door is a metal shutter that's closed, to the right of the front door you see 2 red buttons. The top red button is connected to the metal shutter and the box. Press the top red button and ..... the shutter next to the door opens and you see the 5 power switches of the 5 boxes that are around the radio building. If you click on the 5 black screens a DodecaŽder / Pentagram will appear in the screens. You now have to put the correct DodecaŽder / Pentagram in each screen. If you do that correctly, you can open the front door. They are the DodecaŽder / Pentagram that you see on the boards at 3 of the Switch boxes.....it must be like this
Then press the bottom red button on the front door and .... the door opens.
Step inside and look around. It is a narrow corridor and it has 5 panels with a DodecaŽder / Pentagram above it.
The Frequency Puzzle:
You see 5 Frequency meter panels with a green button on the panels. These 5 panels are connected by a yellow tube. Upon entering you are in front of the middle panel, witch I have named Panel C. On the right side of the hall are the Frequency Panels A and B and the Frequency Meter F with key box G. On the left side of the hall are the Frequency panels D and E and hatch F. Behind Hatch F is the Green Crystal 10.
Box G has the 71 power symbol.
The 5 Frequency panels, A, B, C, D, E each belong to a Switch box. You can determine witch panel belongs to witch switch box by the pentagram that is above each panel
Panel A belongs to Switch box A,
In the Switch boxes A to E, which are outside along the path, you have now set the switches all to the left.
If the switches are to the left, you will hear the Low Frequency tones. If the switches are to the right, you will hear the High Frequency tones. We now must open up Box G first. Box G is hanging next to panel F and has the 71 power symbol. To open box G, the meter in panel F must be set to frequency 71 and to achieve this you must find out the low and high frequencies of each yellow switch. You first must determine the low frequencies of each yellow switch and you do this on the 5 frequency panels here in the hall. All 5 yellow switches in the boxes outside must be pointing left for this.
Go to each of the 5 panels, A, B, C, D, E and click on these 5 panels on the green button and then note for each panel the value the yellow meter. Because you have set the switch to the left in each of the 5 boxes, these are the values for the Low Frequency:
When you have set each panel to its low frequency value then you go back outside and back to each of the 5 switch boxes. Now set the switch in each box to the right, so on High Frequency.
Then go back into the radio building and again to each of the panels A, B, C, D, E. Press the buttons again and now note down the High Frequency value for each panel.
Now that you know both the high and the low frequency value for each box, you have to add and subtract to get a total value of 71. So you must have the switch on the right in some boxes and on the left in other boxes. Because the switch in every box is now to the right, you do not have to flip the switch in every cupboard. Go back outside and to the Switch boxes C and D (look at the map to see where the boxes are).
Click in the boxes C and D the yellow switch to the left again. Then go back into the Radio Building and turn right in the hallway and go to the large panel F. Click on the green button of panel F and ..... the meter of F will go up to frequency 071. Click on the orange button of box G and ..... Box G will now open. Take the Key from box G.
Now you must open up Hatch H to take Green Crystal 10. To open Hatch H, the meter of F must be set to 70 but this does not work with all 5 yellow switches activated. You will first have to switch off 1 of the 5 yellow switches
Go outside and go to the power box on the side of the building. Open the power box with the key you took from Box G. In the power box you see a red button and a yellow pipe. Click on the red button and the middle part of the yellow pipe will slide to the left. With this you have removed Switch box A from the system.
Turn right and go to Hatch H. Click on the orange button and H will open. H has another round blue crystal hatch. Click the button in the slot up and then take the Green Crystal 10.
You now have 10 green Crystals in your inventory
Leave the Radio Building and follow the path back to the elevator. Get into the elevator and pull the Pull Ring again to rotate the elevator. Then go back down with the elevator. Downstairs you get out of the elevator and walk back to the rail cart. Get into the rail cart, turn left and click on the right green button again and with the rail cart you now drive to Station 2.
Station 2: The Black Crystal:
The rail cart stops at station 2. Turn right. You will see a red button on the wall of the rail tunnel.
Click on the red button but ... nothing happens. Turn around and get out of the rail cart.
The hallway is closed with a beautifully crafted gate. The hallway actually has 6 gates and all 6 are closed and locked. So you are now in front of gate 1. The red button you just clicked on is to open gate 1. But the button has no power. To the left and right is a cabinet at the wall. The right box has a blue pipe and the left box an orange pipe.
Turn left to the left box with the orange pipe. Open the box by clicking on the orange button and then click in the box. The box has a small round screen and 2 small blue buttons. Below the screen and the 2 buttons you will see a large circle. Inside the circle is an orange circle and an orange dot. If you click on the blue buttons, geometric figures will appear in the small round screen. If you click on the large circle you turn the orange dot.
Do you remember the 2 symbols you saw on the inside of the hatches of the pipe? You now mustput those 2 symbols here in these 2 cabinrts.
The orange pipe of this left box tells you that you must have the symbol of the orange button side of the tunnel. Click on the blue buttons until the round screen shows the inverted triangle. Then click in the large circle until the orange dot is at 10 o'clock. Zoom out and turn around to the other cabinet This cabinet has a blue pipe and you have to set the symbol that you saw on the inside of the hatch when you crawled into the pipe tunnel from the rail cart. Open the cabinet and look inside again. Place the inverted Y in the screen and place the orange dot in the circle at 6 o'clock.
Zoom out and turn clockwise to the rail cart and step back into the rail cart and click on the red wall button again and ... you will hear that a gate goesopen.
So turn around again and see .... the gate is indeed now open. But unfortunately ... there are more locked gates in the hallway. So walk on to the 2nd gate. You are then in the 2nd segment of the hallway. To the left and right is a cabinet. Stand in front of each of these 2 cabinets. In each cabinet you will see a hole in the shape of your Green Crystals. So put a Green Crystal from your inventory in each cabinet. It doesn't matter which green crystal you use for this. The 2nd gate opens.
Walk on and put another green crystal in the next 2 cabinets to open the 3rd gate. Continue and put another green crystal in the next 2 cabinets to open the 4th gate. Walk through and open the 5th gate by putting another green crystal in the 2 cabinets. Continue to gate 6 and put your last 2 green crystals in the 2 cab inets and gate 6 will also open. Walk throug over the bridge to the round Lift Tower. The elevator comes down by itself.
Get in the elevator and click on the yellow elevator button and you go up. When the elevator has stopped you will see a screen and 2 round buttons. Below the screen is a round hatch and under the round hatch the lift down button. Click on the top round button. Meneandes will appear on the screen and will now tell you that you have completed your task.
You have found the Black Crystal. Meneandes tells you to keep the Black Crystal with you as it is of paramount importance for later visits to Rhem. When Meneandes is gone, press the bottom round button and ... the round hatch opens and .... Meneandes was right .... you have found the Black Crystal. Take the Black Crystal.
Meneandes reappears and says you can leave Rhem now, but that he will see you again soon. You go back down with the elevator. You are actually now done with Rhem 3 and could now go back to the Apartment of Calais. But ..... you can also solve an extra puzzle here. This is an Optional puzzle that you do not need to do to complete the game. If you do this puzzle and you solve it properly, you will be rewarded with an extra congratulations from Meneandes and with the Vehicle Key. I assume that you want to do the extra puzzle.
Extra Puzzle in the round Elevator
Click the elevator button again to go up the elevator again. You return to the screen and the 2 round buttons. Turn around and you see that the window in the elevator is closed. Turn around again to the screen and the 2 round buttons. Click on the bottom round button again. The round hatch, behind which the Black Crystal was, opens again. You now see squares where the Black Crystal stood. Click on it to zoom in on it.
There are 16 buttons. Number them, from top left to bottom right, 1 to 16.
During your journey through Rhem 3 you saw circles in various places with squares and numbers.......Well ... those were the clues to this puzzle.
Click on button 10. Click on button 3. Click on button 16. Click on button 6.
You will hear a click sound and the hatch will close automatically. Turn left. There is now a panel in the left wall of the elevator. In the panel you see 3 red and 3 yellow squares. Turn around to the right wall. In the right wall is now a panel with 3 blue and 3 green squares, well .... this is also familiar to you. On the outside of the Patio Room door you saw a panel with triangles. That panel was divided into Blue, Yellow, Green, Red. You have seen 4 times a clue that always had 3 triangles with small stripes in it. Those triangles were in green, yellow, red and blue boxes.
You now have to combine all of this with each other and then put the correct triangles in the panels. Let's start with the blue / green panel. Click in the boxes until you have the right triangle in it and then do that in the red / yellow panel. If you do it right, the panels will disappear. It must be like this.......
Turn around to the front of the elevator and see ... the window of the elevator is now open. There is an Up button above the window. Click the Up button and the elevator will now go further up. Turn around and you will see another screen with the 2 round buttons, and a small round hatch. Click on the top round button and..........
Meneandes will reappear and now congratulate you for solving all the hidden clues. He will now tell you about the Vehicle Key. When Meneandes has disappeared again, click on the bottom round button again to open the round hatch again. Then take the Vehicle Key from the round box.
Turn around and press the down button to go back down. When the elevator has stopped again, turn around again and click the down button under the round hatch to descend further back to the hallway. Then turn around and walk back to the rail cart. In the rail cart, turn left again and press the right green button again and .... the rail cart will now drive you back to the start station.
Back to the Apartment of Kales:
Turn left, get out of the rail cart and walk to the ladder. Climb back up the ladder, close the hatch and zoom out.
Turn left and go to the door to the right of the pipe tunnel. Open the door and go to the bottom floor of the cell building.
Go through the South door and continue over the bridge.
Open the door of the narrow hall and enter the narrow hall. In this hall there's a metal hatch in the right wall.
Maybe you have looked at this metal hatch the first time you were here.
Turn right to stand at that metal hatch. It's a square metal hatch. Name the 4 inner corners of the hatch as A, B, C, D.....like this......
Click with your hand cursor on the 4 corners of the hatch.......you hear a specific sound at each of the 4 corners. You need to remember these 4 sounds, so name the sounds as Sound A, Sound B, Sound C, Sound D. Now name this Hatch as the SOUND HATCH..... We will come back here and then you must reproduce these sounds in the correct order of a sequence of 8 sounds.
Now turn right and leave this hall and follow the path to the elevator that brings you up to the Apartment of Kales
Get in the elevator. Turn left. Click on the left green button to close the door.
Open the gray box and then click on the orange button and the elevator will take you up again. Get out of the elevator and walk to the door of the:
Apartment of Kales:
Open the door and step inside. Turn right and enter the bedroom again and walk to the bed.
Turn left and ... you are again in front of the scanner. Click on the orange button again and ... Kales appears on the screen again.
Kales explains again that you have to scan the Black Crystal for authenticity. If the crystal is real then the lamp will turn yellow, so take the Black Crystal from your inventory and place it in the scanner and ... the middle lamp on the cupboard will turn yellow and Kales will appear again.
Kales now tells you that if you take the Black Crystal out of the box again, the right lamp will turn green and that Rhem's back door will open. So when Kales has gone again take the Black Crystal back from the scanner and the right lamp turns green. Go back to the elevator. Get into the elevator, turn around and press the orange button to go back down the elevator. When the elevator has stopped downstairs, click on the right green button.
Start of the New Area of Rhem 3SE
Then turn right and see ... the back door of the elevator is now open and you see the Rail car.
You also see a Panel on the right wall Walk to the rail car but don't get in.....turn right to stand at that panel......You are at the:
A: The Sound Puzzle
The panel has 16 squares and a square red button. You see a circle in each of the 16 squares. Each of the 16 circles is divided into 2 halves and 1 half is also divided into 2 halves. These are the 4 circle panels that you saw in the chapters 7 and 8. I then told you that you had to copy those 4 circles and also pay attention to the position of the 4 screws with which those 4 panels are screwed to the wall. Well .... you now need this information here at this panel
Each of the 4 circles appears 4 times on the panel. You can press the squares with circles .... they will then turn light green. So you have to do this panel 4 times, for each of the 4 circles separately. The panel also has 4 screws and you can turn those 4 screws by clicking on them. So you have to press the squares with the circles A, B, C, D 4 times on the panel and then turn the 4 screws correctly, as they are turned on the 4 circle panels you saw earlier in the game.
First do Circle A. So press the 4 Circles A on the panel and then turn the 4 screws in the right direction.
Then you also do this for the 4 circles B, then for the Circles C and last with the Circles D ...... as in this screenshot
When you have done the panel for all 4 circles then you click the RED BUTTON and........You will hear a series of 8 sounds and these are the 4 sounds that you also heard on the Sounds Hatch in the hallway. So these are the A, B, C, D sounds of that Sound hatch that you now hear here, but it is a series of 8 sounds. Remember the order of the 8 sounds and try to write them down as Sound A, Sound B, Sound C, Sound D . This is a random puzzle so your series of 8 sounds will be different from the one I got. For me it was like this: C, A, B, B, C, D, A........If it goes too fast to write down the sounds as A, B, C, D, then you can click the red button again to hear the series of 8 sounds once more. But beware ....... Once you go back to that Sound hatch in the hallway, the panel will reset to a different sequence of sounds
Sound Puzzle Part 2
Okay if you have heard your series of 8 sounds and have noted it down as A, B, C, D......, then you have to go back to that Sounds Hatch in the hallway. So turn around and run back into the elevator. In the elevator, press the left green button to open the other door again and then follow the route back to the Sounds Hatch in the left hallway
Stand in front of the SOUND HATCH and now click the 4 corners A, B, C, D according to your sequence of 8 sounds that you got from the Circle / Sound panel
If you do this correctly than the hatch goes open and you can take the Green Button
NB: If can't repeat your sequence of 8 sounds at this hatch correctly then after 8 clicks the hatch won't go open. You then have to go back to the Circle / Sound panel to click the red button on that panel again.....you then will be given another series of 8 sounds but you don't have to the circles and the screws again
B: Back to the Waterpipes to open up the New Area
When you have taken the green button from the hatch, turn right and follow the route back to the Lamps room.
Go out again through the North door and through the next door to the elevator tunnel
Get in the elevator, close the elevator and go up. Get out of the elevator on the right side and walk to the ladder hatch.
Open the ladder hatch, descend and cross the bridge back to the lamp room.
Leave the lamp room again via the North door and return to the elevator .....
The elevator is now up so descend again via the ladder in the elevator shaft to the round elevator and go up 1 floor with the round elevator
Follow the path through the gate and then descend via the ladder to the lake in front of the corridor building.
Then go to manhole / pit 2 and descend via the ladder into well 2 down into the water pipe again
Okay ..... You are back at the orange button box in the water pipe. No doubt you've seen the hole under the orange button every time you've been here.
Well ... place the green button in that hole and when the green button is in the hole, click on it and ... the gate will open at the other end of the pipe.
So go forward through the pipe until you can't go any further and then turn right
Climb up the ladder and then press the yellow button
The hatch above the ladder goes open, so climb further up and.....
...you have arrived at the beginning of the New Area.
