2021: Walkthrough by: Louis Koot

This is my English translation of my 2013/ 2014 Dutch walkthrough

Level 13: Fortress Solari Fort

A: Into the Fire:

Through corridors and over the roofs:

Lara freed her 3 friends, Reyes, Jonah and Alex, and escaped from the geothermal caves herself just in time. Lara has now reached the corridors of the palace via a tunnel, but the palace is on fire. Just follow the wooden hallway now but watch out for the explosions that will take place. For the time being we do not encounter any Solari's in these corridors. Lara is looking for Sam ..... we know that Mathias took Sam to the throne room, so we areon our way to the throne room ......

The corridor then turns right ..... continue carefully because there will be an explosion. After the explosion, walk on and force the double door.

Walk up the stairs and then go right back into the next corridor ...

The corridor turns left around the corner but is blocked by fire ....

luckily there is a "crawl hole" that allows Lara to crawl around the corner, so push Lara through the crawl hole around the corner.

Longer corridor with a staircase halfway ..... and ...... when Lara has climbed the stairs, she sees a hall in front of her.

In the hall there is a Solari corpse lying next to a chest and when Lara sees that corpse she immediately becomes careful

Walk on to the corpse and ... we then hear the voices of a few Solaris, who have fled the fire and the explosions ...

Take cover behind the chest and pull the bow and peek into the right hallway and then treat the 2 or 3 Solari's with an arrow through their head or body

After you kill the 3rd Solari there will be an explosion in the hallway, so stay behind the chest and wait for that explosion and when it is over, keep walking.

Loot the Solari corpses. Lara can not continue through this corridor, because of the fire, but the explosion has made a large hole in the outer wall, so step through the wall hole and ...... Lara ends up on the sloping roofs of the palace / fortress. Don't linger because the hallway where Lara was just now will explode again and that explosion will kill Lara if she linger on here in front of the wall hole.

So turn right and run further over the sloping roof, which then goes around the corner on the right.

You will see that we ended up in an outside "niche" of the palace .... Lara has to go to the roof, on the left on the other side

Also the Solari's, in the palace and on the roofs, are now fleeing the fire and explosions in panic, as the entire palace / fortress is collapsing, thanks to the explosions that Lara has caused in the geothermal caves . For the time being I will not waste any arrows on the Solari's who are on the run .... Run on and then climb, at the back wall, up the higher roof and then run over the roof to the piece of climbing wall ... Beware of the explosions, which will also blow out through the 2 grating windows.

Jump into the climbing wall and climb up. Then slide Lara to the left and then jump, via the Side Jump, to the windowsill of the front window.

Lara hangs on the windowsill ... slide Lara to the left again and then jump again, via the side jump , to the 2nd window.

Then slide Lara to the left again and .....

..... on the balcony, above Lara, a Solari appears ... but no worries ..... the Solari burns like a torch and it plunges into the depths ... Gosh ..... Solari's burn beautifuly .....

Above Lara hangs a gutter .... jump up to the gutter and then slide Lara to the left again and .....

.... then climb up the wide balcony. Follow the balcony, which then turns right around the corner. From the palace a few Solari's storm out ...

Don't waste your arrows on those Solari's .... they are in a panic and Lara won't hit them anyway .....

Follow those Solari's further across the balcony and then go in, back left.

A hall .... there is only 1 room where Lara can enter, so do that and ..... a cut scene will now take over ...

Lara has found Mathias's Yamatai diary and she looked at the photos, papers and drawings and then she clims out through a hole in the ceiling and ends up on the roofs again.

So follow the roof again ... the roof roof then turns right around the corner and ..... you see a zip line hanging ..... via the zip line Lara has to sail to the roof on the other side .... .

Run until Lara has passed under the Zip line and then turn Lara around ....

Make sure you see the spring symbol and then jump up to the zip line and .... via the line Lara zips down and she ends up on the roof across the street ....

Immediately Lara is now "spotted" by some Solari's hiding across the street.

The Solari's are now going to target Lara and they are also going to throw Molotovs at Lara. Well ..... survive this and take care of the Solari's

First kill the one Solari, who is on the bottom roof. Then run on and then go kill the other Solari's that appear on the other side after an explosion.

When everything is calm again, you do running jump, over the gorge, to the small roof on the other side, but be ready to press your E-key .....

...... because an explosion makes that Lara only just madeit and so you have to press E key to make sure Lara does not plunge down

Then pull Lara up on the roof, loot any Solari corpse and then jump into the Climbing Wall and climb further up.

At the top of the climbing wall, pull Lara into the hallway and then follow the hallway until a cut scene takes over ...

Lara bumps into Whitman ... who comes from the Throne Room ......

Whitman is shocked and Lara, with a lot of effort, resists the urge to slab the coward on  his mouth ..... Whitman tells some excuses as to why he is allowed to roam freely here. Whitman also brags that he thinks those Solari's are an anthropological miracle and that he will keep watch here .... and Lara ..... well .... Lara goes on alone again and we now end up in the

B: Battle in the Throne Room:

The cut scene continues ...... we see Lara sneaking from pillar to pillar because she hears the voices of Sam and Mathias and then ..... she sees Sam and Mathias and that bastard Dmitri is also present. Anyway ... listen to Mathias and then another guy comes to report that they can't find Lara

Mathias disappears but he leaves Sam and that bastard Dmitri behind, to guard Sam ....... That Dmitri is the bastard who beat up Lara and took her weapons. So Lara is full of revenge towards Dmitri, so she has no remorse at all when she shoots the bastard with a well-aimed arrow through the back ...

Lara sees her chance and since she is still full of revenge she kills Dmitri and then she takes all her weapons back.

Lara and Sam then leave the throne room but unfortunately that fool Whitman has warned Mathias

Mathias apparently knew that Lara would show up here and he used Whitman  and Sam as bait to trap Lara ....... Lara quickly shoots down a piece of the ceiling, causing a fire. This stops the bastards for a while and Lara and Sam run back to the throne room where Sam just manages to escape........... but unfortunately Lara is not that lucky

Lara must now survive the fight in the throne room. There is no way out of the throne room. At first instance you have to survive about 10 "normal" Solari's. The bastards will of course also throw Molotovs and everything will go on fire here. If you survived the first wave of Solari's, a number of Solari's in gas suits will storm in ....

If you also manage to survive those gas suits guys then this fight in the throne room is over again, but the room will be on fire. Before you leave the throne room you loot the corpses and then you look for the only exit .... it is the exit where a spotlight is burning.

C: Fight your way out of the palace:

The only EXIT from the throne room brings Lara back into the hallways and these hallways are already on fire. At first Lara will not run into Solari fuckers, but from the moment she has to go down the stairs to the lower floor, all hell will break out. So follow the hallway. The corridor then turns right and we can not go straight ahead.

So take the left hallway and then ..... there is a staircase to the lower floor on the left and ...... Solari's ...... Stay at the top of the stairs and mow down all those Solari's ..... if you are fast you can kill a whole horde of Solari's in 1 go by aiming at the fire in the back of the hall because the gas will explode.

When everything is calm again you descend the stairs, but beware ..... more Solari's will appear in the corridor on the right ......

Loot the corpses and then mow the Solari's in the right corridor out of the game, where you can use the low box as cover.

Descend further down, loot corpses and then continue down the hall, clearing out a few more Solari's.

Then get ready for the big fight against Nikolai, Mathias' main aide ........ Continue down the hall and ...

D: The end for Nikolai:

Lara comes out in a courtyard and she already has the fearful suspicion that things are not quite right here and it soon turns out that Lara's feeling is not deceiving her because .....On the other side of the courtyard Nikolai appears in a room and. .....he has access to a point 50 machine gun gun ..... and he immediately takes Lara under fire ..... Lara manages to hide behind a wall just in time ......

You can't kill Nikolai here ..... it makes no sense at all trying to shoot Nikolai because he's behind the armor of his .50 cannon. You have to be fast because the bullets from the Nicolai's .50 also shoot the stone walls away,  behind which Lara now has to take cover ... Lara has to run from wall to wall but she can not get cover for more than 1 or 2 seconds behind those walls because Nikolai will smash those walls. Across the courtyard, and then left in the corner, is a climbing wall of a cabin where Lara then has to climb up. The pictures below show you the best route for Lara across the courtyard ....

Run, zigzagging, from wall 1 to wall 2, then from wall 2 to wall 3

When you have Lara at wall 3 you quickly run to the left, to wall 4 ..... you will see the wooden terrace with stairs 5 where the climbing wall 6 is that Lara has to reach ..... So run quickly to 5, run onto the terrace and jump into the climbing wall while also pressing your E key so that Lara hooks herself into the climbing wall.

Climb further up and Lara ended up above the climbing wall in a small room.

The window has disappeared here and you see a zip line hanging. That Zip line goes to Nikolai .... so .....

Run to the window, make sure Lara is under the Zip line and that you see the jump symbol .....

Press your jump key and ..... Via the Zip line Lara then sails down to Nikolai and ..... ..

...... Lara throws Nikolai and the cannon over and .......

..... Lara then tries to kill the mother fuckingbastard with the .50 but it is a tough bastard and he manages to throw Lara, and the cannon, back into the courtyard .....

..... Lara lies helpless on the ground in the courtyard and Nikolai draws a gun and starts firing on Lara again .....

..... but apparently also Nicolaides doesn't has his nerves under control because he does not hit Lara .... Lara crawls back and then .... she finds the Grenade Launcher ........

There is still a grenade in the grenade launcher and Lara aims it at Nikolai and ... The game gives you a clue how to act now but you have to do it quickly ...... The grenade launcher's cross is already aimed at Nikolai so all you have to do is use your Alternate Fire button (for me, that's the scroll wheel of my mouse but don't turn it but press it) and .........

... Lara fired the grenade and ..... well ...... Nikolai saw it coming and he had mumbled all his prayers already ..

.... so watch the cheering Ending of Nikolai, who now goes down with a blast.....

If you were too slow to shoot the grenade then you immediately get the chance to try it again, from the moment Lara finds the grenade launcher ......

Lara thinks this grenade launcher is a nice thing to have so she screws it on her own machine gun.

From now on you can use the machine gun to remove metal doors and metal bulkheads. You can now also do or finish the Tomb of the Adventurer level, but then you will first have to reach a fast travel camp and that will take a while. You can immediately use the machine gun's grenade launcher function to blast the courtyard doors with it, as the doors are barricaded with metal plates. But wait a little longer and first go and pick up the ammo boxes that are in front of the doors.

Then stand at a safe distance and look at the doors again.

Pull the machine gun and make sure that the sight circle lights up red on the metal plates and then press your alternative fire key and ... BOOM.

Well ..... go through the now opened Exit and Lara ends up in the next courtyard, where the Solari's swarms again.

E: Murderous Lara

Fight in the 2nd courtyard

Lara is now really all over the top with rage ..... she now really has become a killing machine and she only wants to do one thing ..... to Slaughter as many mother fucking Solari  bastards as she possible can ....... In the gate you can loot a box and picking up ammo, but Lara probably won't pay attention to it because she's coming under fire from Solari's in the courtyard right away. So ignore all the boxes and ammo boxes for now

So immediately take cover behind the corrugated iron plates and start killing the Solari's. On the other side of this courtyard is a building with a piece of climbing wall. Above the climbing wall is the EXIT corridor from this courtyard and there is a spotlight. Solari's will also appear at that spotlight and they will use that spotlight to keep Lara in "the sun" ... So smash that spotlight as quickly as possible.

Fight your way across the courtyard to the back .... use the walls as cover again and blow all Solari's out of the game. You need  to reach point 5

..... point 5 is a new camp and the climbing wall to the EXIT ....

It is the "Fort of the Solari" camp and it is a day camp so it has no fast travel function but you can cash in your Skill Points and XP points

When Lara has cleared out all the Solaris in this courtyard, you can take the time to find and loot all the boxes and ammo.

There is nothing else to be found here, so return to the camp and the climbing wall.

Climb the climbing wall and climb up and .... Lara ends up in a wooden hallway that is on fire. Follow the hall to the end.

You can pick up an ammo at the first corner and then an explosion follows, forcing Lara to crouch

And then Lara reach the end of the hall. First loot the yellow box.

The "window" is blocked by metal plates, but the grenade-throwing function of the machine gun knows how to deal with that ...

Stand at a safe distance, pull the machine gun and use the alternate fire button to blow up the barrier in the "window" with a grenade.

Then walk through the window onto the sloping outer roof and .....

Lara looks out over the Solari city and she sees Sam on a square ..... Sam is attacked by 2 Solari's but she has a gun and she manages to escape.

So Lara is standing on a sloping roof and she has to go down to town.

You will see a zip line, so walk over the shelter to the right and make sure Lara is under the zip line

Jump into the zip line and ..... Lara sails down the zip line and she ends up in an "alley".

Street fights:

Continue, jump down to the lower part and then first loot the 2 yellow boxes. Now get ready for another fierce fire fight with the Solari's, in the streets and courtyards of the Solari City. The exit of the alley is barricaded with metal plates, but Lara now knows what to do. Move back to a safe distance and pull the gun with the grenade launcher, then clear the exit with it

Carefully walk to the edge, but stay to the left. Stand against the left wall on the ledge ....

Don't jump down yet, but pull a good weapon and then peek around the corner and ..... Lara peeks into a street and .... Solari's ....

At first Lara sees about 4 Solaris. There is also a Solari on the balcony behind a metal plate ... from Lara's high position, kill those first  pair of Solari's that you now see appear. If you have already "bought" the telescopic viser then you can "snipe" the Solari's via the zoom function of your guns. You can take out Solari's hidden behind red metal plates with the grenade launcher of the machine gun. However, you shouldn't delay because the longer it takes the more Solari's will show up here ... So kill the bastards quickly ... and you might earn extra Skill Point. Then jump down, get ammo and break the yellow box, then quickly run down the wooden stairs.

Quickly take cover behind "flower box" 1 and then continue the fight in the street.

You have to see for yourself how you plan to get Lara through this street fight. Use the coverage options of 2, 3 and 4 and get Lara down the street to the Fountain as quickly as possible. As soon as Lara reached the fountain and killed a bunch of Solari boys along the way, this fight in the streets ends. Here are some screenshots showing you how I did this piece, but of course that's by no means the ideal way

Do not worry about looting the yellow box and the ammo, which you come across here and there ... you do not have the time for that...but if you run out of ammo then you should loot all boxes. Or else you can consider to use a cheat trainer with the infinite ammo cheaf

Solari's that are hidden on balconies / roofs behind metal plates can be killed with the grenade launcher of the machine gun.

When Lara has reached the fountain then you can take a rest for a while .....

if you continue straight on from the fountain then you will have to deal with Nikolai the 2nd and his .50 machine gun cannon.

Lara has reached the fountain and cleared all the bastards in the street. You can now "backtrack" through the street to loot all the yellow boxes and pick up the ammo boxes.

You canfind out for yourself where to find them. I continue from the fountain with:

Kill Nikolai the 2nd:

Walk forward from the fountain and ..... Lara peers over the next courtyard and sees a spotlight flashing ......

The spotlight is on a roof terrace and the thing is armored and can not be shot .....

The spotlight puts Lara in the "sun" by Nikolai the 2nd .... another crazy person behind a .50 machinegun

Nikolai the 2nd is a very bad shooter ... he just kind of mows with his .50, hoping to hit Lara at luck, but he mows everything down ... there is very little cover for Lara, when she gets over the courtyard to move towards the wooden ledges that you can see hanging in the distance at the back left. You can't turn off that spotlight and you can't kill Nikolai the 2nd from here either

I'll tell you how I did this bit, but again .... this really isn't the most ideal way to do it.  I'm using Cheats.

So you have to get Lara safely across the courtyard again, to the climbing wall with the wooden ledges, which you can see at the back left .... Don't hesitate .... don't delay anywhere because that .50 shooter will just destroy any cover. .. it is therefore not convenient to hide behind wooden barrels, boxes or wooden fences. Start by running to the right fence and then along the fence forward to the 2 stacked boxes .....

from the 2 stacked boxes run quickly over to the left side and then on to the corrugated iron shelter

Lara can recover a little behind the corrugated iron, but not too long ..... Also Nikolaides has to reload every now and then so wait a moment until you don't hear the rattling of the .50 run on and then run through the left side to the climbing wall with the wooden ledges.

Nikolaides is busy with his fireworks again, so run on and jump / climb into the bottom beams of the wooden rigging., ....

Do not hang around ... climb straight on because it is only a thin wooden wall and Nikolaides does his very best to demolish it with his .50 ...

If you let Lara hang still for a moment, then the bullets will put big holes in her body. So climb up, then go to the left and climb further up and ... we end up on a balcony

Take cover behind the chests ...... Nikolaides is in the building, on the left on the other side. A Zip line goes to the building on the other side, but there are 2 Solari's and they are now also taking Lara under fire. So now kill those 2 Solari's on the other side ..... if you stay in cover of the last chest then Nikolaides can't hit  Lara with his .50 ......

When the 2 guys on the other side are murdered, it will become exciting because Lara will have to step into Nikolaides' full line of fire for a while.

Via the Zip line Lara now has to sail to the other side, so take a deep breath and then run to the Zip line and Jump and .......

...... Lara sails down the zip line and ends up in the alcove on the other side .....

No trace of Nikolaides the 2nd but he is still there ..... stick Lara's head into the room and ..... Nikolaides immediately starts shooting again .... So don't run like a Mad Mina into the room but peek around the corner ..... At the back of the room you see a window that is closed with planks. To the right of the wooden window is an open doorway.

Stay in cover of the door frame and then smash the 4 right planks in the window .... make sure you leave the 3 left planks in the window ...... Then run into the room and zigzag to the window, but make sure that Lara stays behind the 3 left window planks ...... Of course Nikolaides also shoots happily, but with a bit of luck he won't hit Lara.

Stand against the 3 window boards and look outside ... You see Nikolaides' .50 ... so ..Grenade launcher and ...... BOOM .... Bye Bye Nikolaides 2nd ....

You earn a Skill Point for destroying the .50.

It makes no sense to "backtrack" to the courtyard for the yellow boxes and the ammo,

So stand in the doorway and then sail, down the Zipline, to the Gate and .... Lara has eye contact with Sam

The gate can not go up and Lara can not climb over it, so we have  to take a different route to get to the other side of this gate

Level 14: Solari Fortress: Tower and the end of Roth

2021: Walkthrough by: Louis Koot
