Part 2: The Path of the Shell

In order to play "The Path of the Shell" it is advisable that you have finished playing "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" and "To D'ni". You then have all the links to the different worlds and all the links to the various "secret" balconies and rooms in your linking books. Just like in "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" you can not save yourself in "The Path of the Shell". The game automatically saves but you always have to look for the "Shell Symbols" that you then have to activate by touching them. I call them in my walkthrough "Shell Cloths". This works in the same way as with the "Journey Cloths" which you have to touch in "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" to save your progress. You will find the "Shell Cloths" from the moment you enter the "Ahnonay Age". Of course I will always lead you to this "Shell Cloths" in my Walkthrough.
The Walkthrough assumes that you have completely finished "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" and "To D'ni", and then did not remove "Uru" from your computer.
Chapter 1: Explorations:
You start in your own familiar Relto Age again. It still rains like crazy. Look around on your Relto island for a while. It has probably been a while since you've been here for the last time. When you tired of it, and soaking wet, then enter your Relto house. In your Relto house you first go to the bookcase in the right wall.
7 new books are now on the bottom shelf of the right bookcase. At the far left stands a Red Book and on the right are 6 Blue Books, the first of which is lying flat on the shelf.
First click on the Red Book. The book appears in your screen. Click on the cover to open the book. On the left page you see the name you gave to your Avatar. Well, this is your Notebook and you can type notes in it, via your own keyboard. Close the book. This Notebook can be retrieved by moving your cursor to the lower left corner of your screen, so where your Relto Book and your KI bracelet are stored. Now click on the flat lying Blue Book. This also appears in your screen and you also open this book by clicking on the cover again. This is the book of the "WATCHER". Read the book. To help you with this, I tried to translate it, it is obviously a very free translation:
The Book of the WATCHER:
In the 625th month of my life I looked up at the star Ges, in the sky of the "Windring Age". And during the time of my birth the star began to shine brightly so that it suddenly became brighter than the surrounding rings. And suddenly the star seemed so clear that it had suddenly become a day in the middle of the night. And I saw the "Light of the Maker". And HE spoke to me. And then "The Fire of the Maker" left me again and I saw nothing but the dark because my eyes were blinded. But HIS words remained ....... He said ...
"You will wait a while, and then you will wait another while, and then you will receive the SIGNS, signs of " the things that have been, "and Signs of " the things that will come". There shall go great Wisdom through you so that "Those who will come after you" will know that I am the MAKER ".
"You will wait for the Signs of the Builders, because the Builders will make D'ni big and prosperous, and D'ni will prosper and prosper, but this prosperity is a CURSE, so the " Sign of the Builders "is a curse".

And so I waited and watched for 1 day, for another 4 days, for another 20 days, for another 100 days and for another 600 days, for the SIGNS. But the SIGNS did not come. And the Maker replied: "You will keep looking and waiting for the Signs to come, for you are the WATCHER".
And so I looked and waited for 1 month, 4 months, 20 months, 100 months, 600 months, but the signs did not come. And many years passed and I was very very tired, but I kept looking. And then, during the time of my birth on the last day, it happened. As I stayed near Cave Rolep and the wind blew through the cave, I regained my sight and I could SEE again. And I saw the "Staircase of Rolep" and I climbed up through these stairs and then saw the "Big Tree of D'ni" and ... I Cried.
And the Maker spoke to me again .... "I see you that you've waited for me, and now I will bless you for this. Today I have given you "the light in your eyes" and tomorrow you will be very prosperous. I will give you the "Wisdom" but I will protect you from not doing wrong things with it. You will not be able to understand the "Wisdom" that I give you because it is for "Those who will come". Be humble and write down the "Wisdom" that I will show you.
"And on the first day the Maker gave me 5 Wisdom Rules, and I wrote these lines in 5 books, in each book I wrote one line. On the 2nd day I received 5 new Wisdom Rules and I also wrote these in the 5 books. During 125 days the Maker gave me 5 Wisdom Rules every day and I wrote them all in the 5 books.
And then I went to rest. And that is how the "Words of the Maker" were given to me, but I do not know if they are the "Signs of the things that have been" or the "Signs of the things that are yet to be." And these rules I have wrote down so that "Those who come after me" will know the Wisdom of the Maker.
When you have read the Watcher's book, you will close it and it will be put on the shelf again. Read the other 5 blue books. These 5 books contain the "Rules of the Maker." Read them because they contain important clues
Once you have finished with the blue books, you walk to the Left Bookcase. In the left bookcase are all your linking books from "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" and from "To D'ni". If you have already played "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" and "To D'ni", then in these books all the link photos are available to all places in the various Ages. There is now also a new book in the bookcase. It is the blue book that is in Slot 10.
This is the book to start with "The Path of the Shell". It is the "Watcher's Sanctuary" book. Click on this book. The linking photo on the right page shows you a large circular room.
Click on the linking photo and you end up in the:

You arrive in a large circular room and you stand before a transparent column.
It is a holographic column and you will see a line drawing in it and underneath this drawing you will see the Shell Symbol of Yeesha.
This line drawing is very important. You will have to be able to recreate this drawing later in the game. So check out the line drawing or, even better, take a photo of it with your KI bracelet .... HELP, I hear you call now .... Make a PHOTO with my KI bracelet? How do I do that ?? ?? Well, I'll explain it to you.
Taking a picture with the KI bracelet:
Go stand straight in front of the holo column. It is best to go in 1st person now. Then press your F2 key on your keyboard
. Your KI bracelet will then appear in the upper left corner of the screen. Press your F2 key again.
A large transparent screen now appears. This is the KI-bracelet Images screen. This screen is still empty.
Look at your KI bracelet. In the upper segment of the KI-bracelet's inner circle you see a small white button with a purple border. Click on that white round button. The transparent screen then disappears but then comes back and in the screen you now see the image of the Holo column with the line drawing. You have now made a KI-Photo of the line drawing.
On the right side of the KI-Images screen you now see the D'ni number 1 as a sign that this is your first image. Click on this number. A Windows window will appear in which you will be asked if you really want to delete the image. Of course you do not want that, so you click on "NO".
Close the KI-images screen by pressing your F2-key again. When you display the screen again, you immediately see the created image in the screen. All KI-photos you make are stored in the "KI-images" folder that you find in the Uru game folder. They are stored there as jpg images so you can always view them again. You can also view all your KI-Images via the large Viewer that is located at the jetty on your Relto island. This viewer you have "earned" while playing "To D'ni".
Right...let's get on with it.......Behind the holo column you see a double staircase that goes up to the top gallery. Stay calmly in front of the holo column and turn around quietly, so that you get a good overview of this large round room. You can see that there are 2 deep open niches, left and right of the holo column. And you see that there are 5 large closed niches that are closed by a curtain.
If you have viewed the room in this way, you go to the open niche on the left side of the Holo column. In this left niche you will find 3 pillars and on each of the pillars is a book. The books on the left column and on the right column are Linking Books and the book on the middle column is a DRC Book. First go to the middle pillar and then click on the DRC Book.
This DRC Book is the "The Watcher's Sanctuary "Journal of DRC man Simpson. Open the book and read it through.
Simpson tells you in this book about this big round room, about the" Watcher ", the" Grower", and "Kadish." You learn that you are now in the "Watcher's Sanctuary" and you learn something about the "Er'Cana Book" and about the "Ahnonay Book." Simpson talks extensively about Kadish, who calls himself the "Grower".... "Kadish has created a "Path of the Shell" and this path leads to the "Great Tree of D'ni". However, it is a path full of obstacles..... Kadish has brought the "Er'Cana Book" and the "Ahnonay Book" here. You read that Kadish could travel through time with the help of the "Ahnonay Book".
When you have read Simpson's Journal, you put it back on the pillar. Then check the two Linking Books on the two other pillars. Do not click on the Linking Photos of these two books because is not yet the right time to leave the "Watcher's Sanctuary". On the left pillar is the "Er'Cana" Linking Book and on the right pillar the "Ahnonay Cathedral" Linking Book. Have you looked at these two books, then leave this niche and go to the niche on the other side of the round room, so the niche to the right of the holo column.
This niche has an outside balcony. Go up this balcony. A Vest hangs over the balustrade of the balcony. Click on the Vest. Your Avatar pulls the vest right on. It is a "Great Tree Vest".
From this balcony you look at the "Great Tree of D'ni". You see a big Door in the tree.
Reaching the tree and that door is exactly the task that awaits you from now on in "The Path of the Shell".
Turn right....... You will then see a white piece of paper stuck to the wall. Stand as close to it as possible. There is a number on the paper and that number is 1:38.
You can not take the piece of paper, but just write this number down. You can do this in the red notebook, or you write down the number on a piece of paper.
You will find more of this type of clues (because that's it) in the game. This number refers to one of the "Rules of the Maker" that you can read in the 5 blue books, which are in Relto in the right bookcase. In the "Book of the Maker" you have read that the "Guardian" has divided the "Rules of the Maker" into 5 Sections. Each of the 5 Books therefore always deals with 1 Section. The number 1:38 now tells you to read Rule 38 from Section 1 of the "Rules of the Maker" because this line contains an instruction for you. You will therefore have to go back to Relto to look it up and read t Rule 38 in Book 1 for a moment. But let us wait a little longer because there may be more of these indications here.
Go out of the niche and back to the grand staircase, behind the holo column, and now climb up the stairs.
It does not matter whether you go up the left stairs or the right stairs..... You are then on the round top gallery. Right above the stairs you will find a big deep niche. Enter that niche here.
In the niche you stand in front of a closed door. This door has an engraving. If you played "Uru Ages Beyond Myst" then you recognize the mechanism of the Clock Puzzle from the Kadish Tolesa Age on the this door. On the right wall of the niche you see a Blue Button. Press the blue button. You hear a kind of siren. Go back to the door and wait patiently until the door has opened. Then go through the now opened door. You have entered the:
It is a smaller room and it is a little dim. To view everything properly, you can now go best in the 1st person, so you do not see your Avatar. On the left wall you see the big Clock. Stand, from a distance, right in front of the clock and then look slightly to the right of the clock, you see a little blue lamp. Right below the lamp you will find a lever with which you can open and close the clock door. In the right wall you see the entrance of a large and round groove. In this groove is a large and perfectly round stone, it is the Ball. On the wall next to the slot is another Number Paper. The number on it is 1: 4. Write it down on your paper, or in your Notebook. This number tells you that you should read Rule 4 in the Section 1 Book.
This Clock Room is the room where you have to solve the 1st part of The Path of the Shell because it is the access to the hidden path to the large D'ni tree. But you will first have to overcome some difficulties. You can put your Avatar against that big round ball and then push the ball through the groove. Try to push the ball through the groove a little bit ... as an exercise for later.
But do not push the ball all the way to the back of the groove .... Just try it for a little bit. Turn around and walk back into the clock room. The large Round Ball then automatically rolls back to the beginning of the groove. Leave the Clock room and then the niche. Standing at the niche you can see the other side of the gallery and there you see another number note stuck at wall
So go over the gallery to that note. The number on the note is: 1:89. Note this again in your Notebook or on your paper.
So you have now got 3 lines that you can look up at Relto in the blue books. Let's just do that f now. So pick up your Relto Book and return to
Your back in your Relto house. In the "Watcher's Sanctuary" you found 3 Number Notes with a number. Those were: 1:38, 1: 4 and 1:89.
The first digit of these numbers refers to the 1st blue book and the 2nd digit refers to the line that you have to read. Read the rules in the order in which you found the 3 notes.
Go to your right-hand bookcase and open the 1st Blue Book. In this book the "Guardian" has written down all the rules of Section 1. Number the lines where an accolade stands for, also the empty lines, from top to bottom and then read what is written on line 38, line 4 and on line 89.
Type rules 38, 4 and 89 in your Notebook or on a piece of paper, as follows
Close your Journal / Notebook and go out of your house and to the right to the jetty. If you have already played "To D'ni" then there is a large Viewer here in front of the jetty and if you have taken a KI-photo of the Holo column in the "Watcher's Sanctuary" then you will see this image here also on this Viewer. All KI-photos that you make can also be viewed on this Viewer. Go back into your house and to your left bookcase. Pull out the "Watcher's Sanctuary" linking book and link back to the Great Round Hall of the:
Back in the large round hall you go back into the niche, where the 3 pillars are placed with the two linking books and Simpson's Journal.
Go to the right pillar and click on the "Ahnonay Cathedral" linking book and then on the Linking Photo and you end up in:
Chaper 2: The Ahnonay Age
A: Ahnonay Cathedral:
The Ahnonay Cathedral Linking Book is now also in Slot 12 of your left bookcase in Relto.
You arrive in a small round room and stand on a round "gear" platform. There is a door in front of you. There is water around the platform. Walk to the door and it opens automatically. You look into a long and high corridor. There are round "paintings" on the walls of the corridor.
Walk through the corridor and in the meantime view the round paintings on the walls. You will recognize various motifs on the round paintings, that you have already seen in the various Ages of "Uru Ages Beyond Myst". The end of the corridor is round and wider and there you are again on a round "gear" platform. On this platform there is a pillar on which the "Ahnonay" Linking Book is located. Do not use the Linking Book yet. On the walls you see 3 larger round paintings and you see the "Ahnonay Symbol" on them.
The "Ahnonay Symbol" is a Large Circle with within 4 smaller circles around a Star.
Make a drawing of this Ahnonay Symbol or take an photo of it with your KI-bracelet of it. You will need this symbol later on.
Stand right in front of the Linking Book pillar and turn around completely so that you look back through the corridor and you have the pillar in your back.
On the right wall is again a number of note, pasted. The number on the note is 2:18.
2:18 thus refers to the Blue Book 2 and then to line 18. We will look this up in Relto later, if we have found a few of these numbers of notes .
Turn back to the pillar and now click on the linking book and then on the picture and you .....now really end up in the:
Part 1: the Ocean version of the Ahnonay Ages
This version of the Ahnonay Age is an Ocean Age and consists of several islands. This is the FIRST VERSION of this Age. There are other versions of Ahnonay, but we shall see that later and I assure you .... it will get very frustrating with all those different versions of this Age........in fact...it will become very weird and I'm willing to bet with you that at some point you wish that you had never start with this game....But don't despair.....Louis Koot is here to help you trough it all
You have arrived on the main island. Because you will also have to go to the other islands, your Avatar has now learned a new "trick". He / she can now also SWIM. You swim, of course, by jumping into the water and then you swim forward via your arrow keys + left mouse button or via your arrow keys + both mouse buttons. Only your left mouse button will let your Avatar swim with the slow breaststroke. If you press both the left and the right mouse button, your Avatar will do the faster breast crawl. The Ahnonay Age Linking Book is now also placed in Slot 13 of your left bookcase at Relto.
You are now on the main island. Stay standing for a moment and just turn around to get a good view of this island. The island has a lake and in the lake there is a big device that looks like a clock. The island also has some beautiful red trees and rocks.
On the other side of the island there is a pillar with a Linking book. To get there you have to walk right around the whole lake. You can also see Red Crabs walking on the island. Walk first to the left until you can not continue because of the waterfall through which the ocean enters the lake. On the other side you will see the Linking Book pillar
Turn clockwise to the Clock-like device that stands in the middle of the lake. The upper part of the device is round and you see, in a circle, a lot of small blue squares. These little blue squares each represent 1 living creature that is currently on this island. Except for you, those are all those red crabs. In order to continue with your "Quest" you have to make sure that you are the ONLY living creature that is on this main island. This means that you first have to chase all those red crabs from the island until you have only 1 blue square left on the clock device.
But before you start the Crab Hunt you first go to the rock formation that you see behind the clock device. So turn right and now walk to the right, around the lake until you get to that rock. On the way you will encounter some of those Red Crabs ..... leave those Crabs alone now, so do not scare them yet. Walk on and just follow the lake until you reach the rock formation, at the back of the Clock device.
At that rock formation you will now find your 1st "Shell Cloth".
These "Shell Cloths" have the same function as the "Journey Cloths" that you had to activate in "Uru Ages Beyond Myst". The "Shell Cloths" thus saves your progress and is stored in the "Ahnonay Linking Book" which is now also in Relto in your bookcase, and in slot 13.
So touch this "Shell Cloth" now to activate it and to save your progress
Okay, start now with your Crab Hunting. If you look at the Clock device, you will see that there are now 19 blue squares on that thing. You are one of the squares, so the other 18 squares are the crabs. So there are 18 Crabs that you have to kick into the lake or into the ocean. Every time you have hunted a crab into the lake, a blue square will go "out" on the Clock Device.
How do you chase the Crabs now? You can now go best in the 3rd person, so you see your Avatar. Then walk to a crab. The crab will run away. Follow the Crab, so chase the animal....... You will find that if you try to chase a crab into the ocean that the beast does not want to do it. Every crab will go towards the lake. So you have to chase the crabs into the water of the lake.
But Crabs are annoying stubborn critters and they do not just let themselves be hunted or put down into the lake. Some Crabs will also climb to the top of the rocks and this means that you too have to climb on top of the rocks to get such a crab back. That is not that difficult. Just walk up the rock and then use your jump key.
Make sure that your Avatar does not fall into the lake. You can get out of the lake again, but that is difficult. There is, however, 1 difficulty. Not all crabs have to be on this main island. It may be that 1 crab is somewhere else. On the right side of the island is a large opening between two rocks. There is also a red tree there. Through the opening you see a small island with a large stone rectangular tower. That island is the "Tower Island" and there can also be 1 crab.
If you can not find a crab on the main island, go to the Clock device again. If you only see one blue square then you have all 18 Crabs chased off the island.
If you still see 2 or more blue squares then you haven't had all the crabs yet.
If you really do not find a crab on the main island, but you can still see 2 blue squares on the Clock Device, this means that the last crab can be found on the "Tower Island". You have to swim to the "Tower Island" to get that Crab, but you must go to that Tower Island anyway..
But because of the current in the ocean you can not just swim to the "Tower Island" from any spot on the main island. You have to do that from the right spot.
Swimming to the "Tower Island"
Go back to the "Shell Cloth" and stand straight in front of it and then look to the right. To the right of the "Shell Cloth" you walk between the rocks towards the ocean.
Then look to the right again. You see a beach and in the distance you see the "Tower Island".
Do not go to the beach but turn left and walk up the rock slope until you are at the top.
You are above and therefore directly behind the rock where the "Shell Cloth" is located. Turn right to the ocean. Two rocks protrude from the water here.
You have to get onto the second rock. So stand straight in front of the 2 rocks and then jump to Rock 1 and then to Rock 2
On Rock 2 you will stay for a while and you study the flow direction of the water first.
You see that the flow direction of the water is to the right. This means that if you swim straight ahead the current will push you to the RIGHT, so in the direction of the "Tower Island" which is now on your right. If you look from Rock 2 to the right you will see the "Tower Island" and you have to swim towards it. Look straight ahead again, to the rock formation you see, right in front of Rock 2, in the distance.
You can do the swimming best in 3rd person, you will see your Avatar then. You swim with your Arrow keys + your Mouse buttons. If you press and hold down your left mouse button only then your Avatar will do the slow breaststroke. When you use the arrow keys + Both Mouse buttons then your Avatar will do the faster breast crawl
Jump, from Rock 2, down into the water and swim FORWARD, towards the rock formations in the distance.
Use the fast crawl, so press both mouse buttons. At the right time, swim to the right with your arrow keys
Keep swimming forwards ...... the current will push you to the right and ..... with a lot of luck, you reach the "Tower Island" and your Avatar will stand on a ledge that's under water.
NB: If you swim too early to the right then you do not get to the "Tower Island". The current to the right will then take you between the main island and the Tower Island and eventually you will end up in the lake of the main island. Because it is then a little tricky to get out of the lake again, you then better, floating in the water, bring out your Relto book and link back to Relto. In Relto you take the "Ahnonay Linking Book" from slot 13 of your left bookcase and click on the "Shell Cloth" which is now on the first left page in this book and you end up back on the main island at the "Shell Cloth" Then you will make the jump again to the two rocks in the ocean and try again to reach the" Tower Island ".
If you have done this swimming perfectly right then your Avatar shall have landed right in front of the stone staircase of the little Tower island. But probably you have come, just like me, a little to the left of the stairs and then your Avatar will stand on the ledge that, under water, goes around the island.
Then walk over the ledge to the stone staircase. It may be that you have the last red Crab in front of the stone staircase. Is that the case then you first push the Crab into the ocean. For me there was no Crab here this time .... I found all 18 crabs this time on the main island.
Go up the stone stairs and you will be on the higher ledge that runs all around the tower. Follow the ledge to the right around the tower. You will first come to a closed door that you can not open. After this door the ledge becomes wider and you will see a line drawing engraved on the tower wall. Draw these lines of drawing or / and make a KI-photo of it with the photo function of your KI-bracelet
Then continue over the ridge. You will also see a dark round hole in the wall of the tower. Follow the ridge further until you are again at the top of the stone staircase and descend again to the water level. Go again in 3rd person. Carefully step off the platform to get back on the ledge that runs around the island under water. Now follow the ledge to the right and make sure you stay on the ledge.
Look at the rock wall of the island. If you have come to the side of the island where those lines drawing have been scratched onto the tower wall, you will see another number note stuck on the rock at your level. On this note you see the number 3:72. Write the number in your Notebook or on a piece of paper. You can not swim back to the main Island ...... actually....that is possible but that is really too difficult. So standing on the underwater ridge you open your Relto book and link back to Relto:
First go to the blue books in your right bookcase. You have found two new number notes in Ahnonay: 2:18 and 3:72.
So you look up line 18 in Book Section 2 and line 72 in Book Section 3:
2:18 = Line 18 from Book section 2 says: The action of the gathered means nothing.
3:72 = Line 72 from Book section 3 says: Take time to understand the path of the shell..
Write down these instructions in your Notebook or on your paper and then go to your left bookcase.
Get the "Ahnonay Linking Book" from slot 13 and click on the "Shell Cloth" which is now on the first left page ........
....... and you will return to:
You are back at the 1st "Shell Cloth". Turn to the left and walk around the lake to the pillar where the linking book is located. When you get to that pillar, turn around to the Clock device in the middle of the lake. If you have now pushed all the crabs into the lake, you now see only 1 blue square on the device.
However, if you still see several blue squares, then there are still crabs on the island and you will have to push them into the lake before you can continue. If there really is only 1 blue square to see, turn back to the pillar. On this pillar is a "Ahnonay Cathedral Linking Book". Use it to link back to the:
You are back in the small round room and right in front of the door.
Go through the door again and walk through the hallway again to the pillar where the Ahnonay Linking Book is located. Use the Linking Book again to link back to:
Part 2: The Misty version of Ahnonay
Break the Crystal Trees:
You are back on the main island of Ahnonay. But this is another Ahnonay than where you first where. You are in VERSION 2 of this Age and it is now very bad weather and you hear the thunderstorm. The beautiful red trees here are turned into blue Crystal Trees and in the ocean and the lake there is no water but thick fat fog. In the lake is still the large Clock device. The blue squares on the Clock Device do not indicate Crabs now, but each square now stands for a Blue Crystal Tree. You must now break each of the Blue Crystal Trees. But before you do this you will first go to the rock where, in the Ocean version of Ahnonay, the 1st "Shell Cloth" could be found. The "Shell Cloth" is not there now, but you are now going to walk to the little rocky Tower Island again.
Now do not go up the slope on the left, but walk to the right and down to the beach at the foggy ocean.
You then look straight at "Tower Island". Under the mist you now see that there is a wide ridge going from the beach to "Tower Island".
Carefully step into the fog and you are then on the wide ridge. Walk over the ledge to the "Tower Island", but be careful not to fall off the ledge. Your Avatar will disappear almost halfway through the fog but that is not bad ..... just keep walking over the ledge and you'll reach the "Tower Island" safely
On the "Tower Island" you go up the stone stairs and ...... On the Tower wall you see the 2nd "Shell Cloth". Go touch the "Shell Cloth" it quickly to store it in the Ahnonay Linking Book in Relto. Then follow the ridge to the right and .... On the ridge is a Crystal Tree, which you must destroy. Just walk against the Crystal Tree and ...... The Crystal splits into millions of pieces and disappears.
Go back down via the stone staircase and then walk back over the wide ledge, under the fog, to the main island.
Back on the main island you now go to each of the crystal trees to destroy them. So always walk against a crystal tree.
Remember that there are also some smaller crystals on the island that you also have to break.
Some crystals are on top of the rocks. It is not that difficult to be able to do so, so you can do this on your own
If you have removed all crystals then only 1 blue square will appear on the Clock Device. If that is the case then you link back to the Cathedral via the linking book on the pillar:
If you have thought a little about what you have done so far, then you surely realize now hat the Cathedral serves as a connection center between the different versions of Ahnonay. So go back through the door and to the Ahnonay Linking Book in the back of the hallway. Use the Link Book to link straight back to Ahnonay:
Version 3 Ahnonay in outer Space:
Oops, you've landed in "Outer Space". You are back on the main island but there are no trees and no rocks. Look around you. Ahnonay "floats" in space now and on all the "islands" you see you see nothing...it's just bare rock. Also the "Tower Island" does not seem to be there anymore. The device in the middle of the "lake" now seems to be broken. Well, except that you can walk over the main island, but you have to watch out that you do not disappear through the cracks in the infinite space, you can not do anything here. So pick up your Relto Book and link back to:
You end up in your Relto House again. Go to your left bookcase and pull out the "Ahnonay" linking book from slot 13. Now, however, do not click on the link picture but browse back to the 1st left page. This is the last activated "Shell Cloth" and if you have followed my walkthrough so far, this is the "Shell Cloth" on the "Tower Island" from the "Mist version" of Ahnonay. (are you still following it?) Click on the "Shell Cloth" and you will return to:
So you ended up on another island but still in the "Outer Space" Ahnonay. This island is Tower Island, in the Ocean version and in the fog version of Ahnonay. Only now is it an island without a Tower. Turn to the left and you will see the "Shell Cloth" stuck on the rock again. Go to the "Shell Cloth" and touch it to activate it again.
Link back to Relto via your Relto book and in your house you grab the Ahnonay Linking Book again from slot 13.
But this time you browse back to the Linking Photo and click on it to link back to the main island of Ahnonay.
You are still in "Outer Space" Ahnonay. Walk across the island to the pillar where the "Ahnonay Cathedral" book is located
On the way there you will have to jump over a few crevices and also have to jump over some higher rocks.
When you come to the pillar, use the Linking Book again to get back in the Cathedral...
Go back through the door and to the Ahnonay Linking Book in the back of the hallway and use it again to return to:
Ahnonay Part 4:
Back in the Ocean Ahnonay:
Note: You best can play the now coming part in one go, without you leaving the game. If you leave the game during the next part and then start it up again, you have a real chance that it will go wrong and you will have to do this part all over again. This has to do with the "Shell Cloths" that you will have activate and with the ever-changing versions of Ahnonay, every time you link from Ahnonay. Have you been playing for a while and you have enough of it, then close the game to do this piece with renewed energy later.
You are back on the main island of Ahnonay and again in the Ocean version of this Age. You now have to get into the Tower of the "Tower Island". Fortunately, you do not have to swim to the "Tower Island" again. After all, in "Outer Space Ahnonay" you have activated the "Shell Cloth" on "Tower Island" again. So grab your Relto book and immediately link back to Relto. In Relto you get the Ahnonay book from your left bookcase again. In the Ahnonay book, browse to the "Shell Cloth" on the first page and click on it and you end up ....... on a completely black screen. But turn left or right and you notice that you have now landed in the:
You are now in the tower of the "Tower Island" but still in the Ocean version of Ahnonay. I really hope you can still follow it all. Unfortunately, it will still get more complicated.
Take a look around the narrow tower. A high metal scaffold is built in the tower, consisting of four metal ladders. 3 of these ladders reach to the floor and you can climb up these ladders to the top of the tower where you can look out through a narrow window. The l4th adder does not reach the floor so you can not climb up this ladder. So you can climb up those 3 ladders for a moment and then look out a window
Then climb down again and go to the door of the tower. The door is closed. To the right of the door is a lever on the wall with which you can open the door.
If you use the lever to open the door you notice that you can not use the lever afterwards to close the door again.
Stand with your back to the door, so that you look at the wall that is directly opposite the door. You see two large wheels sitting on this wall, left and right of the ladder.
A lever is located in the left wheel. With the Right Wheel you switch off the current in the ocean, in the ocean version of Ahnonay, so that you can swim to all other islands.
First go to the Left Wheel and then click once on the lever that is in the middle of this wheel.
You have now activated a lever that you will encounter and use elsewhere. Ahnonay now also changes again in the Fog version, but you will only experience that when you link back to Ahnonay via the Cathedral. The door of the Tower is now closed again when you opened the door.
Now go to the Right Wheel and click on it.
Your Avatar turns the right wheel counter clockwise and this turns off the annoying current in the ocean
Now you can swim freely, in the ocean version of Ahnonay, without being bothered by the currents. But now comes the difficult part, because we are now going to link back and forth, between the various versions of Ahnonay. to be able to find a Number Note in the tower of the Fog version of Ahnonay.
Pick up your Relto Book and link back to Relto
Go to your left bookcase and take the Ahnonay Linking Book out of slot 13. Click in the Ahnonay Linking Book again on the "Shell Cloth" and you will return to the:
You are back in the tower. But now in the Fog version of Ahnonay. The two Wheels are not here now, but the ladders are.
Turn around and ....... you will see a Number Note stuck on one of the wall. The number on the note is 3:66
Well, this was the whole point, so now you have to get back to the Ocean version of Ahnonay. Link back to Relto via your Relto Book.
First go back to the right bookcase and look for line 66 in the 3rd blue book and write this line again in your journal. 3:66 = The passing of time brings the past to the present.
Now link , via the Ahnonay Cathedral Linking Book that is in slot 12 of your left bookcase, to the:
Go through the door and through the hallway to the pillar where the Ahnonay Linking Book is located and link it back to:
Foggy Ahnonay :
Walk across the main island to the other side of the "waterfall", so to the pillar with the Ahnonay Cathedral Linking Book and link back to the Cathedral:

Go back to the Ahnonay Cathedral book on the pillar and link back to the:
Again you use the Ahnonay Linking Book in the back of the corridor to link back to Ahnonay but now you come back in:
Ahnonay: Ocean Version:
Link right back to Relto, through your Relto Book, and in Relto you take the Ahnonay Linking Book out of slot 13 of your left bookcase.
Click in this book again on the "Shell cloth" and you will return to the
Go back to the Left Wheel and click on the lever again.
You have to click the lever of the left wheel again, because your trip to the tower in the Fog version of Ahnonay has deactivates this lever again.
You hear the sound again and now you have activated this lever, and also another lever.
Now go to the Tower Door and open the door via the lever, to the right of the door.
Do not close the Tower door now, so make sure that the door remains open. Because you have deactivated the current in the ocean, with the right wheel in the Tower, you can now swim to all the big rock formation that are floating around the main island in the ocean.
So go through the now opened Tower Door and jump from the ledge into the ocean. Swim to each of the Rock islands and swim BEHIND those "islands". Start with the "Island" that is right behind Tower Island. Then go from that "Island" to the right so that you swim around the main island. You will then discover that they are not REAL islands. They are life-size PAINTINGS or Decor pieces. The only real islands are the main island and the Tower Island and the smaller rocks that protrude from the ocean are also real. Behind each of the paintings is a walkway where you can go.
So swim to the back of each of the Rock paintings and then climb onto the walkways. On the back of one of those life-size island paintings you will find a Number Note with the indication: 2:32.
Write down this number again. We will soon find the relevant rule in Relto. If you have found this Number Note, then you continue to swim until you have arrived near Tower Island again.
Then swim to the Rock painting that is to the left of Tower Island and go to the back of it.
Behind the painting, that is left of Tower Island, you will find the entrance of the Bunker:
Swim to and through the round entrance and ....... You end up in:
Control Bunker 1:
Swim a little straight on and then to the right, to the ir0n jetty iron. Your Avatar automatically climbs out of the water and stands on the iron jetty On the wall you see the Ahnonay Symbol.
In the Star of the Ahnonay Symbol you see the D'ni number 1 as a sign that you are now in Control Bunker 1. Bunker 1 is the bunker in the Ocean version of Ahnonay. Go through the open door and follow the corridor to the left. After a curve you enter a wider part of the corridor and you will see a large, heavy, round door on the right, which is tight shut. However, on the left side of the door you see a Wheel with a lever.
Stay of the lever wheel here and continue through the continuation of the corridor and ..... you'll end up in the bunker again, but now on the platform on the other side.
Turn right and view the wall. Here you can also see the Ahnonay Symbol with the D'ni number 1 on the wall and next to this symbol hangs the "Shell Cloth"
Go touch the "Shell Cloth" it to save your progress ......... do not forget this because then you will be in BIG trouble soon. If you have activated the "Shell Carpet" you will return to the large round door in the wider part of the corridor. Now go to the wheel with the lever ,on the left side of the door, and click on the lever.
You raise the lever and you hear a sound. Wait patiently until the sound is over and the lever is lowered again.
However, the door has not opened a inch. So this is the lever that you have activated by clicking on the lever in the Tower Island Tower, on the left of the ladder
NB: if the lever immediately goes down again when you click on it, and you didn't hear the sound then something is wrong. Then this lever has not been activated, probably because you have forgotten to pull that lever in the Tower. You must then ensure that you end up in the Tower again. I think you can just swim back to Tower Island. Go up the stone stairs and then go through the open door to get at the lever. However, I do not have to try this out.
But I presume you did click the lever in the Tower, so now you can go back to Relto via your Relto Book and in Relto you can take your Ahnonay Linking Book out of slot 13.
In the Ahnonay Linking Book again click on the "Shell Cloth" and you will return to the Bunker:
You are back on the spot where you had just activated the "Shell Cloth", but the Cloth is not on the wall now.
Look at the Ahnonay Symbol on the wall. You now see the D'ni number 4 in it. So you have ended up in another Bunker.....You're in Bunker. 4.
Walk to the open door but do not go into the hall yet. At the door look to the right. Behind the fence of the platform you see another Number Note and this one has the number 2:30 on it
Write down the number 2:30. Later in Relto we will look for the relevant rule again. Now go into the corridor and follow it again to the wider area where the large round door is. Pull the lever again, left of the door. Wait again until the lever has come back all the way down and the sound is gone. The big door will now go open
Go through the now opened door and you are in a new corridor. Walk to the back of the corridor. You are then standing on a round platform. Left and right, two large gears rotate around and straight ahead you see a large round and white image. On that image you see Kadish who is working on the construction of the Ahnonay Age.
Turn around and go in 3rd person, so you see your Avatar.
Walk back to the door and then turn around again and then walk back to the middle of the corridor. Both on the left and on the right you see an iron ladder
Climb down the left ladder and when your down you turn to the right. You look into the space underneath the corridor and you see a chair. A blue button stands left of the chair ... and ..... a "Shell Cloth" hangs on the wall. Go activate the "Shell Cloth" to save your progress up to here in your Ahnonay Linking Book at Relto.
Now you could leave the game to continue from here later
Now that you have activated this "Shell Cloth" you can make a little side tour to see the 4th version of the Ahnonay Age. Grab your Relto book and link back to Relto. Then pull your Ahnonay Linking Book from slot 13 of your left bookcase and browse to the Link Photo of Ahnonay. Click on the picture and you will end up in:
Ahnonay Version 4:
Ahnonay Under Construction
Well, the entire Age is still in Under Construction. You have ended up in a very large, deep and high and round room and in the middle Kadish rises high from the depths. So you are in the Cathedral. The whole Ahnonay Age is one big illusion created by our great friend Kadish. All the time you were, or are, in the 3 versions of Ahnonay, you are in fact in this room. You can walk around the hall all the way to the other side, where you will reach the pillar where the Ahnonay Cathedral Linking Book is located.
However, do not use this book to get out of this room. If you do, you will change the version of Ahnonay again and you will not be able to return to your last activated "Shell Cloth" at the chair in bunker 4. You will then have to redo the whole thing through the different versions of Ahnonay. Simply link back to Relto via your Relto book now.
Back in Relto you can now also look up line 30 and line 32 in the 2nd blue book. Do this and note these instructions down in your Notebook or paper:
Then go to your left bookcase and take the Ahnonay Book out again. Browse to "Shell Cloth" and click on it and you will return to:
You are back at your last activated "Shell Cloth", in the space under the corridor. Go to the chair now. The blue button is here to raise the chair if it is not here now.
The chair is there now, so it does not make much sense to press that blue button. You will be exhausted after all that linked back and forth between the various versions of Ahnonay, the Cathedral and Relto. So may I invite you to go sit 1n the chair? Click on the chair and your Avatar will take place and the chair will take you down, to a round metal tunnel. Stay in the chair.
The chair has 3 levers. Lever A hangs in the upper left, above your head, and the levers B and C are right in front of you. With lever A you raise the chair. Lever B is to turn the chair all the way around and Lever C is to move forward with the chair. Click on Lever C and....enjoy your ride through the tunnel.
The chair turns out to be a trolley and this trolley now takes you through the first part of the tunnel. After some turns the chair stops at a "waterfall". The chair is now becoming a cable car. Click on Lever C again.
The chair goes on as a cable car and then stops at the next tunnel entrance. Click on Lever C again. The chair continues through the rest of the tunnel and then arrives at the end where 6 red lights are lit. Now click on Lever A.
The chair turns a quarter turn and goes up and brings you into a small round room.
Your Avatar will step out of the chair. You look into a short corridor. Walk through the corridor. You will then enter the:
Kadish Front Room.
This is thus a widening of the corridor A small staircase goes to a large round door. The door does not open. A bed hangs on the wall to the right. On the bed there is a Vest and on the wall you see another Number Note with the number 5:57. Write this number down to look it up later in Relto. Grab the Vest, that's lying on the bed. Your Avatar put the vest on right away. Turn around to the other wall. To the left of the stairs is a button panel. Go to it and click on the panel to zoom in on it.
The buttons panel has 8 buttons, divided into 2 rows of 4 buttons each. On each of the 8 buttons you see an image. Number the 8 buttons, from top left to bottom right, as 1 to 8. You have to press these 8 buttons in a certain order to open that big door here. But what order is that? We'll sort that out in the Kadish Gallery:
Side trip to the Kadish Gallery:
First, Note down the 8 images of the 8 buttons on a piece of paper and then link back to Relto. Back in Relto you pull the thick brown book from slot 7 of your left bookcase.
In this book you can browse to the page where the Link Photo of the Kadish Gallery is located.
Click on the link photo and you will end up in the Kadish Gallery. You are right in front of the double stairs. Go up one of the stairs and above you go stand in front of the "roadblock".
If you are right in front of the barrier and then look at the 2 "golden" doors, turn to the left. You see 4 paintings hanging on the wall. On those 4 paintings you see 4 of the images that are also on the 8 buttons of the buttons panel. Take your drawing of the 8 images and compare them with the images on the paintings. Then turn around to the other side. Also on the right wall you see 4 paintings and also on these 4 paintings you see 4 of the images. Well, the order in which you have to press the 8 buttons on the panel, in the Kadish Front Room, is the order in which these 8 paintings hang on the wall, from the left to the right
Write down this order your drawing and link back to Relto. In Relto you take the Ahnonay Linking Book out of slot 13 again and you click on the "Shell Cloth" and you return to the space under the corridor of Bunker 4. This was after all the last "Shell Cloth" that you had activated. Obviously the chair is not here now because you left it on the other side of the tunnel. So press the blue button and wait until the seat is back.
Sit back in the chair and go all the way through the tunnel to the 6 red lights. Go up again and then back through the hallway and to the Button Panel in the Kadish Front Room
Zoom on the Button Panel and press the 8 buttons in this order: 3, 2, 1, 4, 8, 5, 6, 7. You then hear a "click". Turn around to the stairs and see ..... the door has opened.
Go up the stairs and enter the round room. This is the:
In the middle of the room there is a construction that serves as a table. Here you see a Bahro Linking Stone. Stay away from it for a while. Right behind this "table" you see the next "Shell Cloth" on the wall, so go touch it activate to save your progress up to here in your Ahnonay Linking Book. You could now close the game again.
It is somewhat dim here, but there are two large round windows in the walls but he outside shutters are closed.
However, there is a button at the left window. Press that button and the shutters of the windows will open. Look through this window.
Through the now opened window you see a large bar with 4 large Spheres hanging on it. There is a version of Ahnonay in each of those 4 spheres. Through the lever in the Tower, from the Ocean version of Ahnonay, you change your version and you also do that when you link through the Cathedral Linking book on the main island to the Cathedral and then link back to Ahnonay........well.....nice to know.
Three shelves are hanging on the right wall. Go there. On the middle shelf is a drawing and also an ovoid device.
Click on the drawing to view it. You see a kind of hourglass with left of it the number 625 in a circle.
Put the drawing away again and then just click on the Lever, at the bottom of the egg device. This seems to be a kind of egg-timer. Convince yourself that you have indeed activated the "Shell Cloth" here. If you do not know this anymore, do it again and then go to the Bahro Linking Stone that is in front of the "table".
Note: This Bahro Linking tablet links you to the Bahro Cave. But this link is not stored in any of your linking books. Later in the game you will have to go to the Bahro Cave again and the only way to get there is via this Tablet, here in the Kadish Room. That is why I have insisted that you now make sure that you have activated the "Shell Cloth" here, o that the link to this Kadish Room is stored in your Ahnonay Linking book in Relto.
Click on the Link photo in the Linking tablet and you end up in the:
In"Uru Ages Beyond Myst" you have also been to the Bahro Cave several times. But then you always came into the Upper Cave. Now you end up in the Lower Cave.
It is only a bare and empty cave. There is a round pond in the center and on the wall you will find a Number Note. Write down the number that's on it 5:32.
Slightly higher on the walls there are some iron pins in the walls and under some of these pins you will find 3 squares on the wall. They are those squares that you have also seen on the lines drawing that is scratched on the Tower's outer wall on Tower Island. There is nothing else to do here, but I have the distinct feeling that we will come back here later. Link back to Relto via your Relto Book.
There are 2 new lines / rules to look up in your blue books, and those lines / rules are: 5:57 and 5:32.
Find these two lines in the 5th Blue Book and note them in your notebook or on your paper
In fact, you are now done with the Ahnonay Age........You can leave this Age like it is now but then you'll miss a Relto Page. This Relto Page, that we are now going to find in Ahnonay, will ad a large D'ni Clock to your Relto island. If you do not find this worth while, then skip the next piece and just continue with Chapter 3
If you want to find this Relto Page, then I have to warn you, it takes a lot of linking back and forth. A this will be even more so if you didn't open up the door of the Tower, on the Tower Island in the Ocean version. That Tower door must be open, but if you have followed my walkthrough then that door is open now. However, if you have "gone your own way" somewhere along the way, and that tower door is not open now, then you have to link a lot more times back and forth to make sure that you find that Relto Page and then make sure that you can activate the "Shell Cloth" in the Kadish Room again, I assume that you have gone through the door and that this door is still open now.
The Hunt for the Ahnonay Relto Page:
You are still in Relto: Go to your left bookcase and get your Ahnonay Linking Book out of slot 4. Scroll to the link photo and link back to Ahnonay. You will enter:
Ahnonay version 4:
Walk to the right through the room over the wide path and beware that you do not fall the through the holes and so on.
At the end of the path is the pillar on which the Ahnonay Cathedral book is located.
Use the Link Book to link back to the
Go through the door and through the hallway and use the linking book on the pillar to get in:
Ahnonay: Ocean version:
Go to the rock on which the "Shell Cloth" is located but do not touch this Cloth now. Continue between the two rocks and then down to the beach.
You will see Tower Island again. Turn left and you will see the Rock Formation Decor piece where the entrance to bunker 1 is behind. Dive into the ocean and swim to Bunker 1.
Go right out of the water again and then through the door and all the way through the corridor to the other side of the bunker. Activate the "Shell Cloth" here again.
Run back through the corridor to the other side and dive into the water and swim back to the beach of the main island
Back on the main island you go to the pillar where the Cathedral Book is located and you use it to link back to the:
Go to the Linking book at the back in the corridor and link back to Ahnonay. You are now back in:
Pull your Relto book out and link back to:
Yank the Ahnonay Linking book from Slot 13 of your left bookcase and link back to the Ahnonay Bunker via the "Shell Cloth" in your Ahnonay Linking book. You end up in:
You can see that you are in Bunker 2 from the D'ni figure 2 which is now on the wall in the Ahnonay Symbol. Go through the door and all the way through the corridor to the other side. T
At the other end of the corridor the door is closed, but there is a "Shell Cloth" hanging on the wall. Activate the "Shell Cloth" and link back to:
Link back to Mist Ahnonay via the link photo in your Ahnonay Linking Book.
Go to the pillar and link through the Cathedral book back to the:
Again you go through the door and through the corridor and link back to:

You are now on the spot where you activated the "Shell Cloth" in Bunker 2. That "Shell Cloth" does not hang here now, but the door is now open.
Go through the door onto the platform and look at the Ahnonay Symbol on the wall.
You know you ended up in Bunker 3 because this D'ni number 3 is now in the Ahnonay Symbol. To the right of Symbol is the "Shell Cloth", so go touch it

Link to Ahnonay via the link photo in your Ahnonay Book. You will return to:

Look at the D'ni number that is in the Ahnonay Symbol that is back on the wall. You will now see the number 2 again.
The door to the hallway is now closed, but the RELTO PAGE is now "leaning" against the door.
Pick up the Relto Page to get it into your screen and then click on the green image of the D'ni Clock to store this page in your Relto Book.
Now we must get back to the Kadish Room under bunker 4.
The way back to the Kadish Room:
You are still in Bunker 2 where you have just found the Ahnonay Relto Page. You now have to go back to the Kadish Room to reactivate the last "Shell Cloth" of the Ahnonay Age ...
This is important so do not think you can skip this piece. Use your Relto book to link back to:
Just walk out of your house and then straight to the edge of your Relto island.
Do you remember that a new island was added to your collection of islands? Well on that island you'll see now a nice big D'ni Clock.
Go back into your house and to the left bookcase and get the Ahnonay Linking Book once again from slot 13. Link to Ahnonay via the Link Photo. You end up in:

Walk towards the rock where the "Shell Cloth" is located but just before that rock you go to the right, to the 2 trees. You will see the Tower Island again.
Ok ..... Dive into the ocean here and swim to Tower Island and then climb up the stone staircase and then go back into the tower, through the still open door.
NB: If the Tower door is not open now, you'll have a very big problem. You will then have to go through all versions of Ahnonay, an incredible number of times, to ensure that you end up inside the tower again. However, it will be your own fault if the Tower Door is not open now ..... You should have read my walkthrough better then. I'm not going to explain it to you again. If the Tower door is not open now, then you better quit now.
In the tower, pull the lever , in the left wheel, once again..........
You hear that "rumbling" sound again and the tower door closes again. Wait until the "rumbling" sound has stopped and then open the door again, using the lever that sticks to the right of the door on the wall. Go outside, walk slightly to the left over the ledge and then dive into the ocean.
Swim back to the entrance to the Bunker, behind the Island painting that is on the left side of Tower Island, and swim into the bunker. Go right out of the water in the bunker. You are back in Bunker 1. Walk through the corridor to the other side of the bunker and activate the "Shell Cloth" again.
Go back to the large door in the wider part of the corridor and click again on the lever, left of the door.
Wait until the lever is lowered slowly again and the "rumbling" has stopped and then link back to:
Pull out the Ahnonay Linking book again from slot 13 and click on the "Shell Cloth" and you end up again:
Go to the large door in the wide part of the hallway, pull the door handle and wait patiently until the big door opens again.
Go into the round corridor and walk to the middle part and descend the left ladder again to the Chair. First activate the "Shell Cloth" again here, you never know if you need it
The chair is not here, of course, because you left it at the Kadish Chamber. So press the Blue Button and wait for the Chair to appear.
Click on the Chair to sit in it again and you will sink down again. Click Lever C again 3 times to go through the tunnel to the 6 red lights and then click Lever A. You will come back up again. Go through the short hallway and then enter the KADISH ROOM via the stairs and activate the "Shell Cloth" again.
READY ....... This activated "Shell Cloth" is now stored in your Ahnonay Linking Book in Relto so that later in the game you will immediately can go back to this Kadish Chamber.
Now Link back to Relto via your Relto Book
After the Ahnonay Age you have returned in Relto, either from the Bahro Cave or from the Kadish Chamber. I hope you haven't forgotten to activate the "Shell Cloth" in the Kadish Room before you link to the Bahro Cave or directly link back to Relto from the Kadish Room. This "Shell Cloth t" is now stored in your Ahnonay Linking Book that is in slot 13 of your left bookcase.
Go back to the left bookcase and now take out the "Watcher's Sanctuary" linking book from slot 10 and click on the link photo to return to the large round downstairs room of the:
Go to and into the left niche and to the left pillar. On this is the "Er'Cana" Linking Book.
Click on the Er'Cana book and then on the link photo ........
...... and you end up in
